Introduction
This guide will be updated from time to time
Hello everyone,
I hope you'll enjoy my first guide here.
I've decided to make my first guide about
Varus, one of my main champion.
Note that the AD Build can be used on every maps, but be cautious with AP Build because I use it mostly for ARAM games when we don't have much AP.

Like every human, I'm not perfect and can make some mistakes, so don't hesitate to comments if you have some advices.

Runes
Greater Mark of Attack Damage:Flat AD, it'll help in early game.
Greater Seal of Armor:Flat Armor seals gives you great armor in early game, shielding you from the enemy's AD carry
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist:MR per level glyphs will give you good MR vs. the enemy's AP Carry & Support
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage:Because we want moarrrrr damages !

AP Build:
Runes
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration:Your damages will depend on your AP so it's better if you can break through your ennemies's MR.
Greater Seal of Armor:Flat Armor, same as AD build
Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power:As I said, the more power you have, the more damages you'll do.
Greater Quintessence of Magic Penetration:Same as the marks.
AD Build:
For the masteries, I go 21/9/0. I like to play adc with a very offensive tree. After all it's your job to do damages.
With those masteries you should have a good harass and a good farm with a bit of defense.
AP Build:
Still 21/9/0 but on the AP side of the tree. Note that
Blade Weaving
is useful only if you take
Nashor's Tooth. You can take
Arcane Mastery instead for more AP.

My recommandation
| Flash: Simply a must have. You can use it as an escape or chase move, it can help finish an ennemy or avoid some skills. |
|
Ignite: A good choice if your are agressive like me. It can help finish a champ who gets away or counter the healing champs like |
Other spells
|
br br |
| Ghost: The best spell to chase or flee, I don't particularly like it but some people find it useful. |
|
Teleport: This spell is useful to backdoor, to instantly come back on your lane or even gank if you have a minion/ward nearby. I don't take it because I prefer the potential security provided by |
|
Barrier: That's my second choice if I don't pick |
| Heal: Your last resort in fights. I don't use it except for some ARAMs. |
| Exhaust: A good skill that will allow you to comfortably chase your opponent or win a duel by weakening him. |

Cleanse: The CC remover that will counter those |
Living Vengeance (Passive):"On champion kill or assist, Varus gains 40% attack speed for 6 seconds.
On minion kill, Varus gains 20% attack speed for 3 seconds."
This passive is really good for farming, destroying towers and, of course, teamfights !
Piercing Arrow (Q):"Varus starts drawing back his next shot, gradually increasing its range and damage, then he fires it, dealing minimum 10 / 43 / 77 / 110 / 143 (+1.0 per attack damage) to maximum 15 / 65 / 115 / 165 / 215 (+1.6 per attack damage) physical damage, reduced by 15% per enemy hit (minimum 33%).
While preparing to shoot, Varus cannot autoattack or use abilities, and his movement speed is slowed by 20%. After 4 seconds, Piercing Arrow fails but refunds half its mana cost. "
This skill is your harass. It has a decent power and a great range at full charge.
Blighted Quiver (W):"Varus' basic attacks deal bonus 10 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 (+0.25 per ability power) magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds (stacks 3 times).
Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage equal to 2 / 2.75 / 3.5 / 4.25 / 5% (+0.01% per ability power) of the target's maximum health per stack.
This damage is capped against monsters."
Particularly useful against life-stacking opponents (
Hail of arrows (E):"Varus fires a hail of arrows that deal 65 / 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage) physical damage and desecrate the ground. Desecrated ground slows enemies' Movement Speed by 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45% and reduces their healing and regeneration by 50%."
An AoE attack with a slow. Can help chase or flee from opponents.
Chain of corruption (R):"Varus flings out a tendril of corruption that deals 150 / 250 / 350 (+1.0 per ability power) magic damage and immobilizes the first enemy champion hit for 2 seconds.
The corruption then spreads towards nearby uninfected enemy champions, applying the same damage and immobilize if it reaches them. The corruption will continue to spread until there are no further unaffected targets in range."
Your ult can be used in many ways like paralyse a pursuer, prevent a melee champion from approching or simply flee. It can also reverse the result of a teamfight by paralysing ennemies one by one and dealing damages.

I tend to max

Core Items
In my opinion the best boots for
Your main damage item. Lots of damage and tons of Critical Hits !
It will give you a decent Attaque Speed and will add chances of Critical Hits for your
Your surviving item, giving you the life steal you need to survive on the map.
Not a must have but I find it very useful, in particular when the ennemy team is tanky. |
The logical choice for AP Carry.
A must have item. Most of your AP will be given by Rabadon.
A decent boost of ASPD with a useful passive that will strenghten your auto-attacks.
A boost of AP with a bit of CR. Plus the passive for those tanky opponents.
You'll be useless if the ennemy team build a lot of MR so the passive will be life-saving.br |
Situational Items
(AD/AP) This item is a double-edged sword. First edge, your team fights well: you get killed, your teammates resists and you get back in fight after reviving. Second edge: your team has difficulties in teamfights and they'll abandon you as soon as you die... Happy 2nd death !
(AD/AP) It's shield is life-saving if ennemy AP Carry is fed or if you're against a burst champion (
(AD) Provide a boost of health and allow you to slow your opponents with each attack, useful when chasing ennemies.
(AD) Damages, ATK SPD, life steal and an anti life stacking passive, what else ? Good alternative to
(AD) A good alternative to
(AD/AP) Funny item. Gives an enormous amount of ATK SPD and your additionals attacks keeps your on-hit effects !! With this you can apply your passive on three targets with each attack.
(AD) For me, the only alternative to
(AP) You can take it if you don't like
(AP) Usefull against a full AD team. Moreover, it can protect you against annoying things like
(AP) If you are outfarmed and need gold, I think it's a good choice. It also provides some AP and Mana regen. You can sell it in late game for a better item.
(AD/AP) Good against AP team with annoying CC.
As the ADC your primary objective is... TO FARM ! But do it gently, just aim for last hits, don't push to avoid easy ganks from ennemy jungler. Also don't use your skills to farm because in early game your skills consume too much mana. It's best to keep it for harass.
When the lane is clear of opponents and you're able to destroy the tower, don't forget your passive ! try to last hit every two or three arrows to keep your passive activated.
During teamfights you'll be the target #1 so don't stick too close to the ennemies and use your ulti, not too soon so you can see who is rushing you, and not too late so your ulti can navigate through ennemy team (and don't forget that it's a cage, not a stun, ennemies can still attack). Your goal is to kill the ennemy AD Carry or AP Carry, focus the squishy ones.
Use your skills wisely.

It's not an easy combo because you need to perfectly aim at your ennemies. In fact, if you miss one skill, the entire combo will be weakened. Moreover, some times you'll not have the necessary time to correctly apply 3
Blighted Quiver.
Note for AP Build: DO NOT MISS YOUR ULTI !!! It's your mass murdering weapon !! And try to stack some
Blighted Quiver on the ennemies targeted by your ulti for maximum effect !

Favorite Supports
Supports I don't dislike
Other supports I don't recommend
She can help you harass the ennemy with her + She can heal you with + She can give you a boost of MVT SPD with + And at last, she has a AoE Stun ! |
| Leona may be a good choice because she's very tanky and has no less than 3 stuns. Just wait for her to grab & stun an ennemy and kill the poor dude. |
| Taric is very similar to Leona. You just trade some CCs for a very useful heal. In most cases, just one stun is all it cost to get a kill or at least do a good amount of damages. Plus, you can keep farming for a long time thanks to the heal. |
Her passive give you some MVT SPD as long as you are near her.+ She can harass with her + She can Slow an ennemy with + ![]() + Her ulti, combining a bump and an AoE heal is a good thing but while doing it, Janna is quite vulnerable, don't forget to protect her. |
Supports I don't dislike
| With his passive Thresh can become quite tanky in mid/late game (but he must collects souls of course). He can shield you with his lantern and you can grab it to jump next to him, useful to flee when you are ganked. He can grab ennemies with his hook and bump them forward/backward. |
|
In my opinion she is good at harassing thanks to her |
| First good point: she's a Yordle... I love Yordles. More seriously, like a lot of supports, she has a shield. She can transform an ennemy in a little pet (so cu~te!) so he can do nothing but flee. She has a little harass (+slow) and her ulti is usefull to help you survive teamfights even if I prefer when she uses it on the melee champs because of the AoE bump provided. |
Other supports I don't recommend
|
I don't particularly hate her, it's just that most people using her can't correctly throw their damn |
| Some people keep using her as a support... And most of them don't do it properly. Yes you can harass but you must shoot behind the minions, which is pretty obvious for ennemies. You can put traps in the bushes but THEY ARE NOT WARDS! If the opponents don't walk on them, you can be ganked without noticing it. And use your heal on the ADC dammit ! |
|
A good AP Carry but not a support. Yes, she does have a shield but most of the time, people use their |
|
May be a good support if your partner really understand what a support is and if he uses what we call "communication". Indeed, she can heal, gives mana and even silence an ennemy, but don't try to harass ennemies as your |

I don't really like his harass as it usually results in you pushing your lane. His ulti works as a |
I'll use this chapter to give advices against other ADCs. If you have your own advices, please leave a comment.
I didn't put
Teemo in this chapter because I don't consider him as a proper ADC but it's just my opinion, I'll write some lines on him if people wants me to.

Annoying ADC because she can check bushes with |
|
A very good ADC. Beware of her harass, |
| Don't really know what to say as I don't play very often against him. He can check the bush and will harass with his ulti most of the time. don't hesitate to comment if you know more things about Corki than me. |
|
Don't feed him, he can earn a good amount of gold if he stacks his passive correctly and beware of his ulti. Also, be cautious as he can chase you thanks to |
|

|
In my opinion, the real danger against Graves is to duel with him: by stacking his passive, |
|
A real warmachine. Fisrt, her harass: |
| Has a good ASPD. He can increase his range and have on on-hit effect based on your health. The most annoying thing is his ulti which provides him with a good harass that can also reveal ennemies in bushes so keep on moving. |
| Hmmm what to say ? He has a little harass. When he launch his ulti, go take shelter behind minions. I don't know him very well, I'll complete this part if people comments on that. |
|
Like Varus, she has an AoE slow. Also, don't hide directly behind a minion has she can use |
| Like Ashe, she can reveal an area. Be cautious when she put a target on you as her next attack will deal more damages. Her ulti is very special, she becomes a very fast melee champion and she can turn back to normal by unleashing a volley of arrows on her surroundings. My best advice would be to cage her with your ulti when she runs towards you. |
| Look out for her boomerang, she can easily harass you and push/last hit at the same time. You may have some difficulties to harass her because of her shield but the cooldown on it is long enough for you to shoot some arrows. Also, it's rare for her to launch her ulti when she's alone, be careful of buches... |
| She'll harass you with her DoT, will escape with her jump and will ruin your ganks with her ulti. Also she can boost her ASPD for some seconds. I'm not sure but maybe your ulti can intercept her in mid-air when she jumps. |
| One sneaky bastard. Make sure to have as much vision on him a possible because when you'll think you are safe, he'll be just behind you and you'll be dead before you know it. |
|
A dangrous ADC, don't let her stack |
