Threats & Synergies
Keep your Celestial Blessing (W) to go out of his Infernal Chains (W) in time. I would recommend you to buy Doran's Ring to have enough mana for both last hiting minions and using Celestial Blessing (W). Buy Berserker's Greaves as fast as possible for the same goal.
Ahri outranges you pre level 6 + she has better mobility after level 6. There are no chances to solo kill her. Try to not die early, you scale better and Kayle will be stronger in late game. Stay behind minions to avoid her Charm (E)
Akali is dangerous after getting her ultimate. Fortunately she doesn't have big range, so try to keep safe distance and farm what you can. Buying Wit's End can be a good option against her. Stay away from her cloud W when she hides inside it since you can't auto-attack her anyway and she will deal a lot of damage to you!
Kayle is weak against Anivia because she has no proper mobility. Anivia is able to easily kill you by using her ult for slow, she stuns you after that by her Q and kills you or applies huge damage by her E + Electrocute
Annie doesn't have big range so try to keep safe distance and watch her passive when she is able to stun with her next ability. Mercury's Treads, Banshee's Veil and Wit's End are good options against her.
Remember that Aurelion Sol has great roaming potential so ping immediately after his absence or leaving the lane. I also think that movement speed is very good at this matchup, so I would recommend you to buy Berserker's Boots, Wit's End and use Corrupting potion with Time Warp Tonic
His range is bigger and he is able to control the situation the whole time. Not many options you can do alone. He will push you under the tower, so maybe you will kill him together with your jungler.
Brand has longer range and will poke you. You need to farm under tower and farm. Doran's Shield and Second Wind will help you to survive his poke in early game. You have to counter attack him after you dodged his abilities or he wasted them on minions.
Very strong opponent who can harass you all the time. You can't safely farm even by your Q. She has enough range to jump on you. She will cover herself with a shield and deal you significant damage. You will be stronger in late game, but Camille is able to make your early game really miserable. Hit her back with auto-attacks when she goes back after jumping on you. Don't stay close to her so she would not activate her Q second time to do true damage.
Horrible opponent. She is much stronger early and scales well too. Quick Silver is a good item to counter her ultimate. Doran's Shield and Second Wind will help you a lot to survive her poke early on.
The difficulty depends on how he plays. AP ChoGath is able to one shot you. You are fine until you can dodge his Q, but you cannot dodge it all the time so he will destroy you sooner or later. And he has great sustain in lane.
Use Phase Rush, buy Boots as fast as possible, be careful when you want to last hit a minion by Q and E or ranged auto attack. You are good until he pulls you by his E. Taking Ghost summoner spell instead of Teleport is good too.
She can poke you down from a distance by her Q and kill with her burst damage after. Wit's End is good against her.
Try to stay behind your minions so he would not hit you by his Q. Wit's End should be useful against Mundo since it helps to kite him and protects against Mundo's magic damage.
Ekko is an AP assassin with CC abilities, so Mercury's Treads and\or Wit's End will be helpful.
Fiora is a strong duelist with great sustain. Hug the nearest wall when she tries to activate her ultimate. She is stronger early and mid game, but lately Kayle can beat her after level 16+
Fizz is an AP assassin, so Mercury's Treads and Wit's End will be helpful. You can block his ultimate by using your own.
Galio is an AP anti-mage counter champion with a dash and taunt. AD builds will be probably better against him. Mercury's Treads and Wit's End are also helpful for protection
Good Gangplank player is a real pain in the a** who will make poke fiesta. You need sustain. Doran's Shield or Corrupting Potion and Second Wind can help to survive his poke damage.
Garen looks like a very easy match up for Kayle. But at some point of time he will be able to one shot you by using Flash+Q+E+R. Gladly he can do it just once per 5 min.
Watch his anger line that transforms him into Mega Gnar! Remember of his double jump during the transmormation and keep enough distance. It's also good to not stay close to any wall so he would not stun you by his Ultimate ability. You can attack him right after he gets back into a mini Gnar form.
Hard opponent if he stays at top lane. He has a lot of damage and self-healing so it's good to buy some healing reduction or get Ignite against him. He will probably out damage and out sustain you though. Wit'z End is a good item against him.
It's hard to say, weather Heimer is hard or just annoying opponent. You cannot get him alone when he stays in his turrets, but it's possible to kill him together with your jungler
Skilled match up to my opinion. Depends on how good the player knows his champion. Try to run away from her when she activates her ultimate. Try to kill her tentacles when possible.
You are fine until she lands her E stun on you. Then your Kayle will probably be dead. It's a very annoying and just unfun to play matchup. I prefer to ban her or get another champion against her. Dodging the game is also an option.
Same as Irelia. He is stronger early and at mid game, but with full build Kayle is probably stronger. You just need to block his stun by your ultimate and kill him afterwards
Poke fiesta and early game will be really painful. Try to constantly and unordinary move so you would dodge some of his shots. Doran's Shield or Corrupting Potion with Second Wind could ease your suffering a little bit.
Quite easy opponent to my opinion, but you can save just one person when Karthus uses his ultimate
He is a melee, but very mobile opponent with high burst magic damage. Bone Plating rune and Wit's End or even Banshee's Veil are good options to survive his burst damage so you could activate your Ultimate and give him 2-3 second of hard time pain experience.
It depends on how good is the player. Katarina has much better roam potential. You should ping like hell to your allies when you see that Kata is missing. Use wards and push waves after level 6 to force her to stay on the lane or she would lose some gold end experience. Some magic resistance would be very helpful to buy as well.
Kennen is hard before you get level 6. At levels 6 - 11 you are even. And at level 11+ Kayle is generally stronger.
Kled is a strong champion with a dash. He is especially dangerous when his W is ready to do 4 fast auto-attacks. Watch when he uses it on minions and they you can try to attack him during this small time window.
I ban her every time when I play MID. She is strong and dangerous both on the line and as a roaming champion. It's impossible to fight her back because of her mobility
Lissandra has tons of CC. You can get some runes for tenacity or buy Mercury's Treads if their team has lots of CC in general. Wit's End will protect you from her magic damage.
Another poke fiesta. Lux isn't a super hard enemy, but she is just annoying because of her range. You can block her ultimate by yours, but the problem is she can use it 3 times more than you since her ulti cooldown is super low. Doran's Shield or Corrupting potion with Second Wind can help to survive her poke early on.
Malph can be dangerous if he buys AP items with Comet. Doran's Ring and learn your Heal (W) to maximum instead of Q. Or you can try Corrupting potion + Cookies for more mana as well. Some magic resistance is also helpful.
Malzahar is not a problem if you buy some magic resistance like Wit'z End or Quick Silver to get rid of his ultimate
Maokai is a tanky gap closer with proper sustain. Mercury's Treads are crucial against both his damage and CC
The most important this is to dodge his E. Use your W for additional acceleration + rush boots
Nasus is very dangerous because he puts you into a very inconvenient situation. You either harass him and slowly going to his tower (where you become an easy target for a gang) or you play passively and Nasus is going to get 400-500 stacks on his Q. So this is lose-lose situation when you play against him
Horrible opponent to play against on top lane. He will all-in you all the time dealing a lot of damage and there is nothing you can fight back. He is able to get you by his Q when you try to last hit minions by your own Q. Without help of the jungler it's even hard to get experience. Gladly, Nautilus is rarely picked on top lane. Maybe there are an easy way to play against him, but it still needs to be found
Her simple combo E+Q is ideal to make Kayle's life miserable before level 6
Rare top-laner, but very strong. You need Phase Rush and boots as fast as possible
Oriana is annoying and dangerous before you get level 6. You need to survive and play carefully just like always :)
Do not stay close to his Q pillar or walls
Pantheon is very strong early on. You may try to rush Seeker's Armguard. In late you can easily destroy him in 1v1 fight, but he is dangerous in team fights because of his stun. Since Kayle cannot ult herself under the effect of heavy CC, she can be killed during this 1 sec of stun. Try to keep distance before you see him using the stun on your allies.
Keep watching the location of your Kayle and Poppy. Do not stay close to walls or tower in the way so your champ would be between a wall and Poppy
You can try to play agressively against her, especially after level 6, when she misses her abilities. If she is strong and hard to stand against, you can buy some armor like Seeker's Armguard. Try to move constantly and unordinary to increase your chances to dodge her abilities.
Very hard early. Play safe before level 6 and don't forget to ping "?????" like hell when you see Quinn is missing after she got level 6. Personally I've noticed that Kayle becomes way stronger after level 11 and some items, but Quinn is able to make her allies to win their lanes so hard, that your scaling will be useless or too low to make a difference\impact
Big and strong guy with good mobility. Bone Plating are required! If thing go rough, you can buy Seeker's Armguard as well.
Very strong opponent who has one-shot combo after level 6. Seeker's Armguard and Bone Plating can help.
Super annoying if he stays on top against Kayle. Try to stay far enough from bushes so he would not have the opportunity to jump on you. Sometimes it requires from you to give up some minions
I think there is nothing hard to play against this boy. Berserker's and Wit's End are super helpful against him.
Mercury's Treads and Wit'z End are helpful against him
Quite an easy opponent if you play with boots and Fleet Footwork to speed up your champion a little bit
Strong top-laner with a dash, temporal immunity to auto attacks and global ultimate and Kayle doesn't have heavy CC abilities to interrupt his R. If you see him flied to another lane, kill enemy minions and push your wave to his tower, so he would lose some gold and experience + you might get the gold from 1 or 2 tower plates.
Quite easy after level 6. You need all extra movement speed you can get: boots, 4% MS from Time Warp Tonic, acceleration from W. Phase Rush rune can also come in handy.
Experienced Sion mainer is a very hard opponent who can poke you down by the combination: E+Q+W. He is able to dive under your tower together with his jungler. He is rare pick, but I would recommend you just ban him if he becomes more popular. Inexperienced or not aggressive Sion is quite an easy enemy though.
Hard and annoying opponent if his player knows how to land Swain's E
Very strong champion with big damage, dash and sustain. He can steal and use your ultimate, so it will not save you from him. You need to play carefully and wait for your jungler or ending of the lane phase.
Try to block her ult by yours. Buy Wit's End to reduce her magic damage. Doran's Shield or Corrupting potion with Second Wind rune can help you survive her early poke damage.
Due to her Ultimate, Taliyah is a super roaming champion. Ping immediately when she is out of your vision. Her magic damage is also quite impressive, so you need to reduce it by Wit's End
Try to push so he would not be able to roam for free. Of course it's easier to say than to do :) Be very careful because Talon has one of the strongest level 2 in the game and he makes First Blood very often!
Very annoying and inconvenient champion. Teemo is a good counter to auto attackers. I recommend you to use Doran's Shield and Second Wind against him. And don't forget to switch your wards into Oracle Lens to find his mushrooms. Gladly Kayle outscales him hard in the late game.
Tryndamere is a nightmare both early and in the late game. You need to get Phase Rush and buy Seeker's Armguard or Ninja Tabi as fast as possible. Additional armor gives you more life time during tower dives, so there is a chance that Tryndamere will be killed. But many times it looks like the tower is not a perfect cover. Quite often I don't stay under my tower, but I run farther in direction to the second tower.
Quite easy match up. You need some extra movement speed to dodge his Q and not be hit by his E. It would be easy if you can keep safe distance to this champion.
I don't like him. It's hard to catch him or his allies when he summons his cage. But in some game stage Veigar will be able to one shot you if he stuns you (Kayle cannot use her R during a stun)
This creature has much bigger range and can make poke fiesta
Experienced Viktor player is a hard opponent. I recommend you to buy Wit'z End.
Vladimir is a strong opponent early on since he has ranged autos and great sustain. He also scales well into the late game. You can buy Doran's Shield or Corrupting potion for having sustain as well. Another good item is Wit's End for magic resistance. Try to stay behind minions so Vladimir would not hit you by his E bloody shots.
This big bear is tough. You cannot stay against him in close fight, so try to keep your distance. You need to buy boots as fast as possible. Runes Fleet Footwork and Time Warp Tonic (with Corruption Potion) can be helpful for additional acceleration
Annoying gap closer who will harass you and run, harass and run, again and again. Seeker's Armguard and Bone Plating are helpful against him.
His range is huge. Kayle has no chances to get close enough to him. You can just try to increase your sustain by using Doran's Shield or Corrupting potion with Second Wind rune.
Yasuo is a hard opponent if he is played by an experienced player. He has a good mobility + high damage. He is able to block all your Q, E and auto attacks by his wall. I think Yasuo is easy at Iron and Bronze, even opponent at Silver and Gold and he is definitely pain in the a** at Platinum and higher elos
You need to have maximum movement speed against this guy to dodge his E or to run fast enough to not allow him to put you in the Dark Procession (W)
Be careful at level 5. After getting level 6 firstly Zed will try to kill you. I would recommend you to take Bone Plating + buy some armor after the first back. Lately he is not so dangerous for you if your ultimate is ready to be used
Same as Xerath. Huge range so it's near impossible to come close enough to attack him + he is able to throw you back a little bit. But it's also hard for him to kill you. It is just an inconvenient match up
Zoe is a champion with huge range and she is able to sleep and one shot your Kayle. You can try to take and use Cleanse to get rid of her sleep. Magical items would be helpful as well. The problem is that a part of her damage is true damage
It's going to be hard time before level 6. Lucian will do all his best to poke you down. He has better damage in skirmishes and dashes for better mobility. Play carefully before level 6 and try to farm only. Kayle scales better and you will be able to destroy him after you buy Nashor's Tooth at level 11+ if he is not fed till this moment.
Play carefully before level 6 and try to clean minion waves as fast as possible after level 6. You will get good power increase when you get ranged attack + ult. And what gets Twisted Fate? Just a teleport which doesn't do damage to you. But you need to push and try to make Twisted Fate to be sticked to his tower. Put him in a situation that he will lose gold and experience from his minions if he flies away by using his ultimate.
Gwen is melee and her abilities have low range, but she has lots of dashes just like Fiora has. You can try to kite her. Berserker's Boots, Wit's End, your W and additional acceleration from Corrupting potion can greatly help you with kiting her.
Vex is a very annoying champion because of her CC and pretty decent damage. I prefer to focus on farming against her and attack her only when she missed or wasted her abilities. Don't overextend on the lane with low HP and your Ult on cooldown.
He is such a pain in the a**, especially at TOP lane. He has stronger early game trades and ability to engage from big distances, so its very hard for Kayle to farm if the minion wave is heading toward his tower. You will probably need help of your jungler to break freezed lane. But after buying Nashor's Tooth and getting level 11+ Kayle will be stronger than him if he is not fed till that moment.

I also want to invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel where I'm going to make a lot of League of Legends content in English: https://www.youtube.com/c/DixonGames/videos
- Extremely strong champion in the late game.
- Can reduce armor and magic resistance of enemies due to the ability of Radiant Blast. At the same time, the ability slows down quite well.
- Invulnerability to itself or an allied champion can play a decisive role in a team fight.
- Huge item and rune diversity.
- Celestial Blessing can heal and accelerate allies.
- Interesting combination of support and carry abilities.
- Can be successfully played with both AD and AP builds.
- Very weak champion at the beginning of the game. Kayle is difficult to resist most of the enemies and in fact you only have to gain experience on the line and sometimes farm minions.
- There is no way to quickly exit the battle or quickly reduce the distance. She suffers a lot against gap closers.
- You need to learn how to farm under the tower and to freeze waves of minions.
- There are no hard and reliable control skills.
- Can be stunned and deleted in 2 seconds in late game. You can’t use the ultimate under heavy CC
- You will probably be bullied every game until 15th min.
Kayle’s passive is a very important part of the champion, as it changes her power significantly. The whole playstyle of the champion is built around it. At the beginning of the game Kayle starts as a melee champion. Attacking enemy champion gives her stacks. At 5 stacks Kayle becomes Exalted and gets +30% additional Attack Speed and 8% of bonus movement speed. She is very weak and can’t allow herself to fight against any other enemy champion. At level 6 the passive turns Kayle into a ranged champion with 525 points of range. After level 11 her Exalted form launches waves of fire that deal magic damage and can critically strike. At level 16 Kayle gains an additional bonus attack range for a total of 625 and permanently gains the full effects of Zealous.
Her Passive is one of the strongest in the game. Kayle scales and get power spikes with levels. That's why it is so important for her to farm alone so no allied champion would share and steal experience from killed minions. Until level 16 your main goal is... right... to get level 16! 😄 You need this level before major team fights will happen. I mean team fights for dragon's soul, Baron Nashor or Elder Dragon which can deside the result of the game. You should also help your team to get ordinary dragons and Rift Herald. And if you see that there is no upcoming important neutral objectives, use the time you have for farming level 11 and 16 as soon as possible.
This ability is the only control tool in Kayle's arsenal. Moreover, this is not some kind of heavy control effect, but only a slowdown. Nevertheless, you should not ignore this ability, since the ability is not only able to slow down, but also causes damage and reduces the protection of the target. Perhaps at the beginning of the game this will not be very noticeable, but in the future you will understand that the ability is very important. Sometimes the Radiant Blast is the only tool for safe farming since if you try to use your Starfire Spellblade, some enemies will jump or dash on you. Radiant Blast has bigger range than Starfire Spellblade, that’s why it is safer for farming.
Radiant Blast helps also to kite melee champions due to increase of slowing effect with level ups. That's why this ability is oftenly learned first to the maximum level when Kayle stays on the top lane.
With this ability, Kayle can help herself a little at the beginning of the game on the line, if things are going really badly. But the mana cost is so high and the healing is so low, so I would not recommend you to use it unless you are in such situation that you have a lot of mana, but no HP. In a critical situation, the bonus movement speed can still save a life when, for example, a jungler comes to you or you want to dodge some enemy’s ability, but it’s better not to rely on it. Later the ability will fulfill another important role. You will be able to support your allies. You can speed up your initiator or you can extend the life of an allied carry. Try to prioritize who needs to be healed and accelerated in the first place. Sometimes you can even sacrifice one ally for the sake of another one. It will take some experience in the game to understand which of the allies is a more important figure and deserves your help.
This ability has active and passive parts. Moreover, both are extremely important. The passive part of the ability allows you to give auto-attacks extra magic damage which actually makes her a strong auto-attack based champion. This will become especially noticeable after you buy the first items for the attack speed ( Nashor's Tooth or Kraken Slayer) and reach level 11. The active part charges your next auto-attack and it deals ranged damage, based on the enemy’s missing health. After level 11 the hit makes an explosion and is able to make damage to several champions in the area. It’s better to use the active part when an enemy champion has below 50% of health.
Kayle’s ultimate makes herself or her allies invulnerable, applies AOE damage and disables her auto-attacks in 1.5 seconds. Very often, Divine Judgment is applied to the allied carry if he gets into a trouble or to the allied initiator, who is going to engage into battle and take the first portion of damage. Try to use it that way you not only make a champion invulnerable, but also to block a lot of damage. It is quite effective to stay behind your AD-carry and make him unkillable right after he gets some sort of heavy control like stun or hook. The whole enemy team will try to kill him immediately and this is the best moment to give him Divine Judgment. Remember that you can’t use it when Kayle was stunned, feared or hooked. That’s why it always better to stay behind all of your teammates. You can save them if they get stun, but you can’t save yourself.
2. You need to remember that Kayle's ultimate has a long cooldown, which means that when you still have about 30-40 seconds left before you can re-use your ultimate, it is most likely your enemy's ult will be ready, so you need to be doubly careful. Opponents who understand this will deliberately provoke you to use the ultimate, so they can kill you afterwards by next massive attack, when their ultimate will be ready and yours will not.
3. Using the ultimate in team fight. If the battle is very hot and you do not see the HP of the most valuable ally, then there is a high risk of missing and ult the wrong one. In this case you can use the ultimate on yourself. If you have someone strong and fed in your team, for example ADC, then it makes sense to save the ultimate for him. Do not forget to periodically review items and scores of your allies to understand who is the most powerful and valuable at the moment and who deserves the ultimate the most. You can also estimate the degree of threat from the enemy team. Do they have extremely dangerous champions who can threaten your ally, do they have such skills in their arsenal that will allow them to break through your army and attack ADC?
4. Do not forget that Kayle cannot use her ultimate if she is under heavy CC. This means that it is advisable for you to position yourself not even next to the ADC, but a little behind him. If the enemies stun your ally, then you can save him with your ultimate, but if the stun is used on Kayle, the game is over then.
CLASSIC ABILITY POWER BUILD
+ + +
Ability Power makes Kayle to be both a carry and support. Your raw DPS will be a little bit lower than you can get from AD-builds, but Celestial Blessing will heal and accelerate yourself and allies much better.
In this video you can see how Grandmaster Kayle plays with the classic full AP build against Challenger Tryndamere who is one of her strong counter-picks. The game takes 40 minutes so you can see Kayle micro and macro gameplay from the early to the very late game. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWl8pXlQbMw
+ are very strong starting tools which help Kayle to do First Blood on the top lane against most of melee enemies since even 💎Diamonds don't expect Kayle being so strong at level 1-2. However, I think Riots will nerf Kayle soon if they see what I saw in some Diamond elo games which I recorded for you in this video. Here is the link:
ONE-SHOT FULL AP BUILD
or + + + are core items.
+ are the most important runes for this build.
The core of this build is items for ability power, magic penetration and burst damage like Luden's Tempest, Hextech Rocketbelt, Nashor's Tooth, Lich Bane, Shadowflame, Void Staff, Rabadon's Deathcap and Sorcerer's Shoes. If the enemy team has lots of assassins and burst damage, you can find place and buy a defensive item like Zhonya's Hourglass or Banshee's Veil. When you will become an experienced Kayle mainer and League of Legends player, you can buy Dark Seal in favorable matchups or when you expect to have good KDA, so you'd be able to stack this item and snowball hard, especially after transforming the item into Mejai's Soulstealer. Here is the link to my gameplay video where I'll show you how this build works:
ON-HIT AD BUILD
There are a lot of possible item combinations and build sequences for On-Hit builds. Items are changed by Riot Games quite often, so it's really hard for me to say with 100% that some combination or item is much better than another one. Last year I do more video content on different champions so there is no much time for me to test out all Kayle builds we could possible create for her. In general theory, On-Hit builds are supposed to be good for auto-attackers against tanky teams that have at least 2+ tanks or heavy bruisers like Darius or Garen. But after Kayle rework in Season 9, her ultimate disables her auto-attacks for 1.5 seconds and since Guinsoo's Rageblade and Muramana were also reworked and generally nerfed, On-hit build became less popular. However, this build feels still playable, especially against tanky teams. Here is my gameplay with AD On-Hit build against Garen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDU2I13qYqg
ON-HIT AP BUILD
I'm going to repeat: In general theory, On-Hit builds are supposed to be good for auto-attackers against tanky teams that have at least 2+ tanks or heavy bruisers like Darius or Garen. On-hit AP build is similar to AD On-Hit build. What to choose? It depends on your ally champions and their type of damage. Here is my gameplay with AP On-Hit build against Aatrox:
+ + + + + + This build is called "Chinese Kayle build" because it was invented or popularized at least by the highest LP Kayle player on Cninese super server in Season 12. This build gives Kayle stronger power spikes in the early and mid game in comparison to the standard AP build, but it provides less utility for her team. With this build Kayle has good damage, attack speed, additional HP, armor and magic resistance. However, she lacks of self-healing since AD items don't make her Celestial Blessing stronger and the build doesn't provide any source of vampirism which makes it hard to play against some artillery champions like Jayce, Xerath, Ziggs, Vel'Koz etc. Here is my gameplay with this build against Aatrox on the top lane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGFRR-nvRwI
AD-CARRY CRITICAL STRIKE BUILD
or or + + +
This build will give you good early and mid game power spikes and transform your Kayle into AD-carry champion with some magic damage from her abilities and the passive. All mythic AD-critical damage items are good for Kayle. Take Kraken Slayer if their team has lots of tanks or heavy bruiser. Immortal Shieldbow will help your angel to survive explosive burst damage from enemy assassins or other champs who can 100>0 your HP after using 1 skill combo. Galeforce is good for kiting immobile enemies like Garen and it also helps you to break the distance between you and artillery champions like Xerath, Ziggs, Lux or Vel'Koz. Here is my gameplay video with AD-carry critical strike build against Urgot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V686_hnr38
can be bought at the start of the game, and is a great way to have additional sustain in early game. You can also get additional movement speed by using this item if you choose the rune Time Warp Tonic. You can buy Corrupting Potion for every matchup.
is also generally good item for Kayle that you can use for every matchup. It's going to be easier to last hit minions with the ring in comparison to Corrupting Potion since Doran's Ring deals additional damage to minions by auto-attacks. I think this item is also good against enemies whos abilities you need to dodge more often. The ring gives additional mana regeneration so you would be able to cast Celestial Blessing more times.
is a great starting item if you want to play aggressively from the very beginning and try to get First Blood. It fits also good for different AD builds.
is an amazing item against champions with poison like Teemo and Cassiopeia. I find the item also helpful against long ranged poking champions like Jayce, Xerath, Lux etc. Doran's Shield together with the rune Second Wind help to stay on the lane much longer in comparison to other starting items. However, the item doesn't scale so well into mid and late game as others.
is quite greedy first item against the easiest enemies who cannot get close to your champion like Singed, Nasus or Garen. You will return all the gold back that you spent on this item after killing 100 minions. which is going to be somewhere between 10th and 15th minutes. I think Cull is also good as one of first back purchases when you don't have enough money to buy one complete and strong component item. I mean if you don't have enough gold to buy something like Recurve Bow or Noonquiver, you can buy Cull+ Refillable Potion or Cull+ Boots instead.
is great first back purchase if you play with the standard AP build or One-Shot build. This item is very gold efficient and rewarding if you can play with good KDA and stack it up. After getting 10 stacks you can buy Mejai's Soulstealer and try to increase your stacks to 25 which together with Rabadon's Deathcap will transform your Kayle into a snowballed monster!
is one of Kayle's core items if you want to play any of AP builds. It gives her strong power spike even after be bought as first item and it also scales amazingly with other ability power items.
For each second in combat with champions, deal 3% bonus damage, stacking up to 3 times for a maximum of 9%. While this effect is fully stacked, convert 100% of the bonus damage into true damage. Riftmaker's passive true damage helps take down durable enemies as well as giving slight burst against fragile enemies with the increased damage. Since omnivamp applies to true damage, this means it also provides an exceptional amount of healing. These are very useful for Kayle.
is one of two core AP mythic items for One-Shot AP build. It gives lots of magic penetration so Kayle would be able to blow up squishy enemies in 1-2 seconds. Luden's Tempest doesn't give omnivamp unlike Riftmaker, but it provides tons of mana so you would be able to heal yourself infinite amount of times by Celestial Blessing.
is the second core mythic item for One-Shot AP and for standard build as well. I tried it instead of Riftmaker and it was great! I was able to catch enemies and land my Radiant Blast on them. The point is that many players know Kayle's Radiant Blast range, but they don't expect Kayle to have dash in her kit. And Hextech Rocketbelt gives also magic penetration just like Luden's Tempest. However, this item doesn't have any mana or omnivamp so your sustain is not the best with this item and you have to be able to manage your health by not taking unnecessary damage.
is also a core item for every AP build. Rabadon's Deathcap is a powerful item for pure ability power casters, and is also very effective on burst assassins and hybrid champions. It scales and works great together with Nashor's Tooth and Mejai's Soulstealer. Rabadon's Deathcap is essential for any champion with ability power ratios, tanky or carry, wishing to deal significant magic damage that will carry into late game.
is most effectively used against abilities that have a downtime before they can affect the target like Chum the Waters, Unleashed Power, Death Mark, Life Form Disintegration Ray, Death Lotus etc.
is a situative item that protects Kayle against magic damage and gives her such important stats like attack and movement speed. This item is good for most of her builds (except of One-Shot build probably). Wit's End is often most useful on auto-attack reliant, mixed damage dealers who deal both magic damage and physical damage, such as Kayle, in order to deal more damage against champions with high armor by dealing additional magic damage. It is also highly useful on frequent auto-attackers against champions with high magic damage, since it give its owner a good amount of magic resistance while not sacrificing an item slot solely for a defensive item.
is a strong item against magic damage but is most valued for its ability to prevent crowd control or counter poke damage. As such it is highly recommended to build Banshee's Veil when you are being focused by crowd control effects, or when the enemy has initiation or pulling abilities like Enchanted Crystal Arrow and Rocket Grab. Combined with Guardian Angel or Zhonya's Hourglass, Banshee's Veil will make you very resilient to both magic and physical damage. I prefer to buy Wit's End instead of Banshee's Veil in most of my games. However, Wit's End is not able to save your Kayle frome being one-shot 100>0 HP against high burst and fed enemy like Evelynn or Annie. Banshee's Veil does not only reduce magic damage, but protects Kayle against 1 enemy spell that increases her chances of surviving hostile ability combo.
is an interesting situational item for Kayle because it allows her to perma slow enemies by simple auto-attacks with waves when Kayle's Passive Divine Ascent is fully charged (at level 11+). That's why it is good to buy this Rylai's Crystal Scepter as her 5th or 6th item because it is going to be the late game, so your Kayle will be at level 16+ and her Divine Ascent will be always charged.
is a situational item that increases Kayle's burst damage. This item is good for AP builds against squishy champions. It is particularly good for those games where Kayle was lucky to get both champion and minion kills during the early and mid game.
is a situational item for AP One-Shot build, especially good if enemy team has many champions with shields.
is one of core items for AD builds. This item provides a lot of attack speed and synergizes well with the rune Lethal Tempo. The item is especially good against tanky teams because of attack speed bonus and additional true damage.
is also one of core items for AD builds. This item is good against champions with high burst damage. It also gives Kayle vampirism which is good enough to keep her health high and restore it by attacking minions, so Kayle would have no need to waste time for a recall just only for healing.
is another one core item for AD build. This item is good against immobile champions like Garen to successfully kite them. And the item is also good against high ranged artillery champions like Xerath, Lux, Vel'Koz or Ziggs to break the distance between them and Kayle.
is a core item for AD critical strike build. Kayle usually buys it as her 3rd item. It gives her good amount of attack and movement speed to beat enemies in 1v1 situations.
is a situational alternative to Phantom Dancer. You can buy this item if you need grievous wounds against teams with lots of vampirism and healing.
is a core item for AD crit build. It provides very high damage. But you have to buy it only if you already have at least 40% of critical strike. So it is going to be your 4th or 5th item (counting the boots as an item as well).
is a very good 5th and 6th item which protects Kayle against physical damage. The item allows champion to ressurect after the death which is super important in late game at level 16+ when the respawning time is so high that enemies could finish the game.
is a perfect choice for AD build if your champion needs to survive in initiated fights. The spell shield and additional HP are useful to survive and prevent Kayle from being affected by any quick crowd control effects placed on them which would otherwise cause her to not survive. Kayle uses this item mostly in "Chinese AD Build".
was a core item in the past. But it was nerfed and now this item is only good for AD and AP On-Hit builds.
is the attack damage counterpart of Rylai's Crystal Scepter. Kayle uses this item mostly in "Chinese AD Build".
This item is often built as a form of "anti-tank" item used to counter health-stacking champions (or champions that scale well in health) such as Shen, Dr. Mundo, Sion, Volibear, Zac etc.
is a good choice for both AD and AP On-Hit builds.
Flash is the most popular spell in the game and for Kayle it makes no exceptions. You have to take it in 100% of your games. Teleport is a frequent choice for top-line champions, as this spell allows you to quickly leave your line and move to another one. For Kayle Teleport is good in the early game, because the spell can be used to quickly return to the line from the base and thereby not lose precious experience.
Kayle rarely uses the teleport to fly to other lanes because she is very weak in the early game and it is unlikely she will be able to provide significant assistance. But she will lose gold and experience from minions for sure, which is not profitable for her. Thus, Teleport at the very beginning must be used exclusively to return to the lane from the base. Pay attention to where the minions are on the map. If they are near your tower, then you should use the Teleport. If they are under the enemy tower, it will be better to walk than use Teleport and immediately run into a danger zone. There is a risk that enemy jungler is sitting there in ambush. While you are running on foot, he will most likely leave to do something else.
Getting Ignite early on is a good option for agressive Kayle players against melee champions on both TOP and MID lanes. Many players even in Diamond💎 elo don't expect Kayle to be that strong at levels 1-2 with fully charged Passive. However, you can be frequently punished by enemy junglers for being agressive since Kayle doesn't have escaping tools and she cannot fight 1v2 like some Darius or Renekton early game monsters. That's why most of agressive Kayle mainers have <2 KDA. They kill more but die a lot as well. I personally hate to see my angel dead, that's why I prefer to play around minion wave controling and positioning behind allies so my usual KDA is around 3.5+, but with this style more games look like coin flips. Anyway, if you like agressive playstyle, then you should definitely try to play with Ignite combined with Doran's Blade and some damaging rune like Press the Attack or Lethal Tempo. Just look this video from Diamond elo games and see by yourself how strong Kayle is early on with these tools:
I've seen some players on Korea and EU-West servers who like to play with Exhaust instead of Teleport or Ignite. This summoner spell is good for both playstyles. You can use this spell defensively as an additional CC tool or to beat your enemy since it also reduces his damage. The spell is more effective against enemies who rely on auto-attack damage like Jax, Tryndamere or Yasuo and extended fights or some streaming abilities like Life Form Disintegration Ray, Death Lotus or Inferno Trigger.
Barrier is a very nice surviving tool for Kayle if you play against champions with burst damage and CC like Annie, Pantheon, Ahri or Evelynn. The problem for Kayle is she cannot ult herself by Divine Judgment if she is under heavy CC like stun. Barrier allows Kayle to survive enemy's bursting damage since the spell can be activated under a stun. All Kayle needs is to stay alive and wait to press her Divine Judgment to punish all those who dares to attack her! This is a perfect protective spells which will save your angel's life many times and let you win some 1v1 fights as well. It's especially a nice choice if you already have a champion with Teleport in your team. There is no especial need to have 2 TPs in a single team.
Cleanse is a good option against enemies with dangerous and disgusting CC abilities like Charm, Petrifying Gaze, Enchanted Crystal Arrow, Hostile Takeover, Solar Flare or Curse of the Sad Mummy. The spell could help against Nether Grasp in the past too, but it was changed.
The best option that gives you decent amount of damage and makes you a weak, but still a champion after level 6.
Gives some healing and movement speed. This is a good rune for hard match ups and for easier laning phase, but you should be ready that you are just another cannon minion in early game. Sometimes it's fine because there are a lot of tanky champions and bruisers on top lane, which are hard to out trade or kill even with Press the Attack, so it would be better just to relax, farm and skayle 👼💘
This rune is good for On-hit build with Blade of the Ruined King, Guinsoo's Rageblade or Muramana. The strongest rune for late game probably in terms of DPS, but not as good as Press the Attack for short trades on the lane. At the moment the rune became very popular among Kayle mainers once again after the rework in Season 12. To my personal opinion, On-Hit doesn't work well now, since Kayle disables her autoattacks during 1.5 sec by her Divine Judgment and there are a lot of champions with stuns and other hard CC which don't allow Kayle to stay and auto attack. I would not take On-Hit builds even against a team with planty of tanks. Maybe on-hit is better for destroying tanks in the late game, but the difference is not big anyway. You can try it and decide for yourself what's better. However, Lethal Tempo is very good with the standard build as well.
Is the best choice against champions where you need a lot of extra movement speed and slow resistance. You can pick it into many champions, but the most important to get it against Darius, Nasus, Tryndamere, Singed
This rune is good for MID Kayle when you play against squishy champions. It can be simply activated by using Radiant Blast + Starfire Spellblade combo. So you can try to keep safe distance between you and your opponent and watch Electrocute cooldown. Attack your opponent when it's ready. The rune scales good so your damage will be significant on squishy targets the whole game. If you choose to get this rune, then it would be better to buy Sorcerer's Shoes instead of Berserker's Greaves. This rune is very unpopular at the moment.
Is an alternative rune for Lethal Tempo. At present day this rune is no more then funny off-meta for On-hit builds. This rune allows you to charge Kayle's and Phantom Dancer's passives faster. Not popular at the moment. But since Ravenous Hunter was deleted from the game, the rune Hail of Blades and the whole Domination rune tree is so bad in comparison to Lethal Tempo. Don't take this rune even for fun. Press F to pay respects instead 😆
MID is simpler in the sense that the distance to the tower and between the towers is shorter, the opponents are also quite fragile and Kayle has the opportunity to kill someone sometimes. Yes, many mid lane champions have longer range. They will only make you to leave the lane most of the time, but they won't kill you. Most top laners can kill Kayle in a direct battle on the line or directly under the tower. But playing on the mid lane has its disadvantages. Due to the weak early game, Kayle is not particularly able to help her jungler in the battle for the scuttle crab or the first dragon. Most 2v2 battles before level 6 will end with enemy victories. Therefore, expect your jungler or the entire team to flame you. When Kayle is in MID it's easier for you, but harder for your team…
2. If you play with Nashor's Tooth or Kraken Slayer you can try to fight back your opponent with Q+AA+AA+E, but don’t be overaggressive. Most likely the even opponent will out trade you. If you have chosen Fleet Footwork, then you are a ranged minion before level 11 or until you buy Nashor's Tooth or some strong AD-item like Kraken Slayer.
3. You can start to play more aggressively after buying Nashor's Tooth or Kraken Slayer. It’s your first power spike. And you can start to clean jungle monsters. There are enough sustain\damage to kill jungle monsters fast so they would not hurt you much.
4. Try to farm everything you can, but watch the drakes and Baron. If you see that there are about 50 seconds left till the drake, go Recall , buy more items and group with your team to get it.
5. Stay behind your allies, even behind the AD-carry. If they stun him, you can save him by your R. But if Kayle is stunned, it is death for you most likely.
6. Don't forget that Kayle is stronger in team fights than in 1v1 duels. You can go split push if you are really fed and there is no champion who can stand 1v1 against you. But in most games it's better to not go alone into the enemy territory or not stay long there. Be sure, if you go to a side lane alone to kill a wave of minions and there is a stronger 1v1 champion in the enemy team, so if you don't see him at mini-map there is a high probability that he is coming for you right now. So kill the wave as fast as possible using Q+E and go away from there. Don't try to kill a side lane tower and even don't attack it if you are not sure you can kill it fast. I had hundreds of times the situation, when I went to attack side lane tower with 80-100% HP without plates (after 14th min) and it ended with death of my Kayle and no reward for me, because the tower was still standing, but with 20-30% HP instead of 80-90%...
Picture: Kayle player's standard emotional cycle 😆
Anivia has a weak laning phase and often has trouble farming and trading. If she uses any abilities on the minion wave to last hit with, make sure you abuse the cooldowns. Don’t forget about Anivia’s Passive. It has a long cooldown, so once it’s been popped, make sure you try to kill her while she is most vulnerable. Call for assistance and ask for ganks while it’s down.
Try and hold off from using any dashes that can help you dodge skill shots. Anivia’s Rebirth and Crystallize can be deadly if you have no tools to get away from them. Make sure your dash is always up so you can dodge her Rebirth.
Anivia is a very mana-hungry champion and will need blue buff as often as possible. While she is low on mana, use this as an opportunity to deny her farm.
When you’re roaming around the map, make sure you keep an eye on the minion wave in mid. Anivia can push the wave very fast and you’ll lose a lot of Tower health if you’re gone for too long. Try and roam while she is in base so she can’t take your Tower.
CC is your best friend against Anivia as she is squishy and immobile. But she does have tools to defend herself like her Rebirth and Crystallize. To make locking her down easier, try to flank her rather than running directly at her to make it harder for her to escape. Anivia needs to invest in mana early so she can farm easily. You can benefit from this by using your early advantage to win trades and gain a health lead.
Whenever Anivia has her Passive up, her ability to survive all-ins is much higher. Try to look for frequent trades while her Egg is down, and call for assistance when needed. Anivia comes online when she has unlocked her Glacial Storm as it allows her to farm much more effectively. She will have much more lane presence once her Glacial Storm is unlocked and she will start to look for trades.

Try and stand in the middle of the lane at all times. This will make it harder for her to land her Hookshot in a trade. Don’t get close to the walls as this will give her the opening to engage. If you’re playing as a ranged champion, try and harass Camille with basic attacks whenever she tries to last hit. Camille lacks sustain in the early game, so you can poke her out of lane easily if you keep auto-attacking.
If Camille uses her Hookshot in lane, she will be vulnerable while it’s on cooldown as it’s her main way of disengaging from ganks. Bait out her Hookshot prior to your Jungler arriving in your lane to reduce her chances of survival.
Try and stay closely grouped as a team when playing against Camille to make it very hard for her to engage. Camille will want to lock down an isolated target with her Hextech Ultimatum, but by standing close together it will reduce her ability to do so. Camille will often hunt vulnerable targets who are isolated walking around the map.
Stick with your team to reduce Camille’s assassination attempts.
In addition to grouping closely, Camille cannot easily get on to the backline by running at the enemy. Instead, she will try to flank from the side. So whenever you’re sieging an objective or fighting in a lane, make sure you have sufficient ward coverage to the sides so you can spot her before she engages.
Camille may look for an all-in at level 3 or 4 once she has access to her core abilities. Try and not lose too much health prior to hitting level 3 otherwise it is guaranteed that she will look for the all-in.
Whenever Camille has her Hookshot available, you need to be careful with your positioning as it will provide her with an opportunity to engage if you’re stood by a wall. Stand in the middle of the lane as much as possible.
At level 6 Camille will gain access to her Hextech Ultimatum which can be deadly if you’re low and overextended. Respect her all-in and do not push without vision as her Hextech Ultimatum can also be used to set up her Jungler.

Avoid trading with Irelia when she has her passive Ionian Fervor stacked as she will out trade you. Keep an eye on the little bar under her health. When trading with Irelia, keep an eye on low health minions in your lane. Irelia may use her Bladesurge on the minion to escape the trade or run you down after a skirmish.
Irelia benefits from extended trades. Try and avoid going for extended trades with her as she will always win them. Try and lock Irelia down at the start of the fight. This will make it much harder for her to jump around your team and get resets on her Bladesurge.
Avoid fighting too close together as it will allow Irelia to use her Vanguard's Edge on multiple people and allow her Bladesurge to reset. Stand together but not super close together.
Try and fight after Irelia uses her Flawless Duet as it is one of her best tools to start a fight. Ideally, try and also fight around her Vanguard's Edge as it will reduce her chances of getting resets.
Irelia is very strong whenever she has her passive Ionian Fervor fully stacked. Avoid fighting with her at this time. When Irelia hits level 6, her kill pressure intensifies as her Vanguard's Edge is a very good duelling tool. Irelia benefits from extended trades, so try and avoid going for them whenever you can. Keep them short and sweet.

Aim to trade when Jax has used his Counter Strike as it will block basic attacks. It has a long cooldown, so make sure you exploit his weakness. Jax has no build-in sustain and is melee. If you have the range advantage, try to poke and harass him as much as possible to prevent him from looking for the all-in. This will also force him to burn through his potions quickly.
After level 6, every third auto will deal extra magic damage. Do not commit to extended trades with him- especially if he’s been able to stack his auto attacks on minions beforehand. If Jax decides to team fight, try and lock him down with CC before he has the chance to engage. While his Counter Strike will block basic attacks, he is vulnerable to disengage and CC.
Jax will be looking to split push in the later stages of the game. Always keep an eye on where he is at any given time. Do not let him take objectives and open up your base for free. Forcing a fight with a numbers advantage when Jax is split pushing can be a good way to win a team fight. Keep an eye on him when fighting and be prepared to retreat if he leaves the side lane. Jax’s Grandmaster's Might will give him increased defensive stats in a trade. It is very good for duelling.
Once Jax gets his first item, he becomes much harder to duel unless you have items that match his damage. Don't over commit to fighting him without a backup plan. As the game goes along, Jax will get stronger and stronger. Keep an eye on him at all times as he will look to split push and take objectives quickly.

LeBlanc is an early game bully. Watch out for her Sigil of Malice + Distortion + AA combo. Whenever Leblanc’s Distortion is on cooldown, she is squisher and vulnerable. You could use this time frame to play aggressive and go for a trade as she will not be able to escape or trade as effectively back with you.
Standing outside of the minion wave and far back is a good way to reduce Leblanc’s ability to push and poke at the same time with her Distortion. If you stand as far back as you can, she will be unable to land her Distortion on you regardless.
LeBlanc is an assassin. That means if she gets ahead of the early game, she can snowball really hard and stomp the game. Do not overextend or trade aggressively when you know that she can kill you.
Make sure stay grouped with your team and avoid walking through unwarded areas of the map when you don’t know where Leblanc is. As she is is an assassin, she can easily burst you down if you’re caught out of position. To counter LeBlanc in team fights, you need to CC her as soon as she uses her Distortion. Once she is on your team, CC her immediately and focus all your efforts to take her down while she is CC’d.
LeBlanc can go for bursty trades in the early game as soon as she unlocks her Sigil of Malice and Distortion. She can also proc Electrocute very easily with her Sigil of Malice + Distortion + AA combo. Once LeBlanc hit’s level 6, her kill pressure intensifies as her Mimic is very versatile. It also has a very short cooldown, so play respectfully. LeBlanc is very strong in the mid-game once she has lots of AP and items. Make sure you group with your team so she cannot burst anyone down quickly.

Nasus doesn’t want to fight in the early game. Instead, he wants to focus on farming and stacking his Siphoning Strike. Try to fight him when he is focused on stacking as he may focus on the farm rather than fighting you- which will allow you to gain a health advantage.
Do not push Nasus under his turret as it allows him to farm safely. Instead, freeze the lane towards your side of the map so he has to overextend for farm.
Once Nasus has some levels behind him and has multiple points in his Wither, he will have good gank set up. You’ll need to play safer if the wave is closer to his side of the map during this time so you don’t die from ganks.
Nasus will be looking to split push throughout the mid-game. He is good at split pushing thanks to his Siphoning Strike. When Nasus is split pushing, you can use the numbers advantage to start a team fight. While fighting, check the map and be keep an eye on Nasus. Be prepared to disengage if he’s about to take a tower.
If Nasus is grouping for team fights, try to lock him down with CC so he is unable to get on to your carries and kill them with his Siphoning Strike and Fury of the Sands.
Nasus is at his weakest in the early game. Try to deny as many stacks as possible so he is unable to scale quickly.
The longer the game goes, the stronger Nasus gets. Make sure you end the game as quickly as possible. While he will be focusing on farming, once he has his Fury of the Sands, his kill pressure will increase and so will his survivability. Make sure you’re not too cocky otherwise he can turn the exchange around.
Nasus is very dangerous because he puts you into a very inconvenient situation. You either harass him and slowly going to his tower (where you become an easy target for a gang) or you play passively and Nasus is going to get 400-500 stacks on his Siphoning Strike. So this is lose-lose situation when you play against him. Take the rune Phase Rush it will save your life a couple of times.

As Teemo is a ranged champion, expect him to try and harass you as much as possible. Investing in defensive starting items could be a good way of dealing with him from the get-go. Teemo will place Shrooms Noxious Trap around the edges of the lane. Avoid walking to the side of the lane and only walk the path your minions take to reduce your damage taken.
Be prepared to sacrifice some CS for XP and health. Teemo has a lot of kill pressure if he takes Ignite and is able to harass and poke you down. Teemo may not join team fights as he isn’t very good in them. He may instead be split pushing and trying to take objectives in the side lanes. Make sure someone is able to stop him from splitting.
Teemo will place Mushrooms Noxious Trap around objectives and in high traffic areas. Avoid going anywhere that Teemo has recently been in without a Sweeping Lens. He and his teammates may be ready and waiting and try and pounce on you.
As Teemo will be split pushing or away from his team during fights, you could use the numbers advantage to force a fight 4v4 or 5v4. Just keep an eye on him and be prepared to rotate if he gets close to your tower. At level 6, Teemo’s pressure increases thanks to his Noxious Trap giving him extra damage and the ability to place Noxious Trap all around the map. At 40%+ cooldown reduction, Teemo is able to play a lot of Noxious Trap around on the map.
Tryndamere will look to split push during the mid-game and he’ll rarely join team fights. You can use the numbers advantage to force objectives or look for favourable fights to gain an advantage. If Tryndamere is split pushing in the bottom side in the mid-game, avoid sending lots of people to stop him when Baron’s up. It will take you some time to kill him even if you commit 5 champions to kill him which could give his team lots of time to take the Baron.
Try to fight when Tryndamere doesn’t have his Ultimate up. This will make it incredibly difficult for him to dish out lots of damage in a team fight. Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map in the early game. Tryndamere has lots of kill pressure and if you push, he could easily all-in you and chase you down the lane.
Look for fights when he has little Fury in his resource bar. The more Fury he has, the stronger he will be.
Whenever his Undying Rage is down, try to abuse the cooldown and look for kills. Once his Undying Rage is up, his kill pressure and survivability increases a lot. If Tryndamere has Ignite, expect him to play aggressive and look for an all-in at level 2 or 3. Once Tryndamere hits level 6, his survivability increases a ton. Avoid committing to fights with him when his Undying Rage is up unless you can easily beat him in a skirmish. Tryndamere is really good in the late game and will look to constantly split push and take objectives. Do not let him take your towers for free while you skirmish in the mid lane.
Use the minion wave to block Aatrox from landing his Infernal Chains and going for the all-in. Always ensure that there is at least one minion between you and him at all times. Both his The Darkin Blade and Umbral Dash have rather long cooldowns in the early game. If he uses them, try to abuse the cooldowns and trade with him while they’re down. Aatrox benefits from bursty trades with his The Darkin Blade. Try and keep your distance at all times and be prepared to sacrifice a little bit of CS, so he doesn’t burst you down.
In team fights, as soon as Aatrox runs in, try to CC him and burst him down first. He is pretty vulnerable to CC, and if you can kill him before he gets his combo off, the enemy will lose out on a lot of damage. Try to look for fights when Aatrox doesn’t have his Ultimate World Ender or Flash. He will have a much harder time at impacting fights when either of these are on cooldown. Aatrox likes to split push after the laning phase has ended. When he shows in a side lane alone, you could start a team fight with his teammates. Have wards on that side of the map, though, if he makes his way to join the battle.
Aatrox is strong from levels 2-6. Make sure you keep your distance to make it harder for him to land his The Darkin Blade and poke you down. Aatrox spikes when he gets his first item (as well as both component items). Respect his all in potential when he’s completed the recipe as his damage output will heavily increase. Aatrox is strong no matter what if you cannot dodge all instances of his The Darkin Blade. Practice makes perfect, but do try and dodge them whenever you’re able to.
Try and keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map early. Doing so will make his all-in less effective. Post 6, try to interrupt or somehow force Akshan to top his Ultimate Comeuppance. This will increase your survivability and it will be put on a short cooldown. Keep in mind that early armor will be very beneficial in this matchup. Akshan is an AD champion, so picking up early armor will protect you from some of his damage.
Don’t chase Akshan in the jungle during the mid-game. He could be leading your team into danger or an ambush. Try and look for fights when Akshan isn’t there. That way he will be unable to benefit from his Going Rogue. Playing around Akshan’s Ultimate Comeuppance will be very beneficial during the mid-game. Without it, he will be unable to maximize his damage output.
Akshan’s first power spike is when he unlocks all 3 basic abilities. Although, his early game damage is pretty good at level 1 and 2. When he unlocks his Ultimate Comeuppance at level 6, his kill pressure intensifies. Keep this in mind and avoid staying in lane when low. After Akshan’s first back, he should’ve picked up a component item for his Mythic. Unless you’ve matched him, be careful as he will win trades and all-ins.
Olaf is incredibly strong in the early game: especially at level 1. Avoid fighting him at all costs as he will beat you if he’s able to land multiple Undertow. If Olaf throws his Undertow and it’s close to you, try your best to zone him away from the thrown Axes Undertow so he is unable to pick them up. Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map to reduce his ability to all-in you and chase you down.
Olaf is incredibly strong in the early game: especially at level 1. Avoid fighting him at all costs as he will beat you if he’s able to land multiple Undertow. If Olaf throws his Undertow and it’s close to you, try your best to zone him away from the thrown axes Undertow] so he is unable to pick them up. Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map to reduce his ability to all-in you and chase you down.
Olaf is a dominant laner and can easily get kills at level 1 and 2 with his Undertow spam. Avoid fighting him early on. Once Olaf hits level 6, it will be difficult for you to kill him or lock him down with CC. Don’t commit to using any hard CC abilities when you know his Ultimate Ragnarok is up. As soon as Olaf completes his first item, he is going to deal tons of damage. Make sure you play respectfully and only trade with him if his Undertow is down (or he is unable to pick up an axe Undertow.
Kayle is at her weakest in the early game. Try to abuse her weakness by playing aggressive and getting kills. Putting her behind in the early game will reduce her ability to carry later on in the game. Keeping the minion wave closer to your side of the map will force Kayle to overextend for farm. Once she walks up and tries to last hit, you could play aggressive and try to all-in her.
Once Kayle hits level 6 and unlocks her Divine Judgment, she will also become ranged and she’ll find it easier to last hit. She will be able to also poke you down and trade more effectively. You’ll need to be more strategic when trying to fight her from now on. Try to end the game as quickly as you can as the longer the game goes, the stronger Kayle becomes.
Kayle will tend to be split pushing during the mid-game. You can use this time to force a team fight with the numbers advantage while she is pushing in a side lane.
Kayle is rather vulnerable when her Divine Judgment is on cooldown. Try to force fights and kill her while her Divine Judgment is down.
Kayle is really weak in the early game. Try to abuse her as much as possible so she is forced to back early and delay her first major power spike.
Once Kayle hits level 6, she will become ranged and get a lot of added protection thanks to her Divine Judgment. You need to always consider her Divine Judgment when trying to fight her post level 6.
As Kayle becomes stronger as the game goes along, you really need to end the game as quickly as possible. If you cannot end the game and it gets to late game, you are gonna find it difficult to win.

As the Rune Wars raged, Mount Targon stood as a beacon against the oncoming darkness—Kayle and her twin sister Morgana were born beneath that light. Their parents, Mihira and Kilam, began the perilous climb in search of the power to save their tribe from destruction.
Even when Mihira learned she was with child, she pushed onward. At the mountain’s summit, she was chosen as a divine vessel for the Aspect of Justice, wielding a sword that blazed with a fire brighter than the sun.
Not long after, the twins were born. Kayle, the elder by a breath, was as bright as Morgana was dark.
But Mihira had become a fearsome warrior, far greater than any mortal. Kilam began to fear her new divinity, and the sorcerous enemies that were drawn to her light. He resolved to take the girls out of harm’s way, journeying across the Conqueror’s Sea to a settlement where the land itself was said to offer protection against magic.
In their new homeland, Kilam raised the twins, their temperaments growing more different with each passing day. Kayle was precocious, often arguing with the settlement’s leaders about their rules—she had no real memory of her mother’s powers, but knew the laws were meant to keep them all safe. Her father rarely spoke of such things, but Kayle was certain Mihira had saved them by ending the Rune Wars on some distant battlefield.
When the twins were teenagers, a streak of flame split the sky. A sword smoldering with celestial fire struck the ground between Kayle and her sister, breaking in two—Kilam was distraught when he recognized the blade as Mihira’s.
Kayle eagerly snatched up one half of the weapon, feathered wings springing forth from her shoulders, and Morgana cautiously followed her example. In that moment, Kayle felt more connected to her mother than ever, certain that this was a sign she was alive and wanted her daughters to follow the same path as her.
The people of the settlement believed the girls had been blessed by the stars, destined to protect the fledgling nation of Demacia from outsiders. These winged protectors became symbols of light and truth, and were revered by all. Kayle fought in many battles, flying at the head of the growing militia and imbuing the weapons of the worthy with her own sanctified fire… but in time, her pursuit of justice began to consume her. Seeing threats within and without, she founded a judicator order to enforce the law, and hunted down rebels and reavers with equal fervor.
But there was one person she softened her judgment toward. To the dismay of her followers, Kayle allowed Morgana to rehabilitate wrongdoers who appeared humble enough to admit their guilt. Kayle’s protege, Ronas, was the most disapproving of all—he swore to do what Kayle would not, and attempted to imprison Morgana.
Kayle returned to find the people rioting, and Ronas dead. Consumed by rage, she looked down upon the city, and summoned her divine fire to cleanse the city of its sins.
Morgana flew up to meet her, raising her blade. If Kayle was to purge the darkness she saw in mortal hearts, she would have to start with her own sister. The two battled across the heavens, each matching the other’s terrible blows and striking the buildings beneath them to rubble.
Abruptly, the fight was halted by their father’s anguished cry.
Kayle watched Kilam die in her sister’s arms, a senseless victim of the violence that had overtaken the city that day. Then she held the two halves of their mother’s sword in her hands, and vowed she would never again let mortal emotions rule her. As she leapt back into the sky, soaring high above the clouds, she felt she could almost see Mount Targon beyond the horizon, its formidable peak bathed red by the setting sun.
There she would seek perfect, celestial clarity. There she would stand at her mother’s side, and fulfill her legacy to the Aspect of Justice.
Though she has been absent from Demacia for many centuries, Kayle’s legend has inspired much of the kingdom’s culture and law. Grand statues and icons of the Winged Protector give strength to the heart of every warrior who marches to illuminate the night, and banish all shadows from their land.
In times of strife and chaos, there are many who cling to the hope that Kayle might eventually return… and others who pray that such a day will never come.
