Ok let me be real with you here. Rakan top sucks. Especially right now. With the meta favouring champions with a lot of self heal like Fiora, Aatrox, etc, essentially duelists, you can't win a trade. But with that being said, you are more than welcome to play him top, just not in rank please. Don't say I haven't warn you.

Hi, its me, TheHellKing FawninOverLillia Neekopara Łilium, a self-proclaimed top lane main. Currently I am trying to "onetrick" Lillia to a higher rank but it doesn't seem to be working. I've only been playing LoL since the start of 2019 so I'm still fairly new to the game. I make this guide because: 1. Rakan is (one of) my favorite champion and 2. Rakan top is a hidden sparkle that not much people know of :> (not anymore with how over-the-top everything is now) But seriously, even though I'm not the best LoL player (duh), you can take inspiration of my stupidity and evolve it. I hope you all enjoy top lane Rakan like I do and have a lot of fun P/S: you might not notice but there will be no build for jungle here because Rakan in the jungle is so bad it will not work unless Riot decide to buff his Q (give healing against jungle camp) or at least his E (self-shield and ability to dash to wards like Lee Sin's ). P/P/S: the reason why the ADC build is all over the place is because I don't play much ADC so I don't really know what I'm doing. When you solo q because you don't have friends (the one I listen to the most):

Pros +Great sustain +Good poke +Good for teamfight +Left enemy tilted for losing lane against a "former" sp +Very high mobility +Can start teamfight +Can easily pick out squishy enemy (depend on build path) +Perfect hair With Rakan top, you can continuously harass enemy with your combo and win small trade thanks to the heal from your Q. And he is also a charming birby boi, who can not like him?

Cons -Can get kite -Require matchup knowledge -Limited damage -Dead if missed W Rakan is not the champion suitable for solo fight late game due to his limited damage so he will require allies present all the time. And if you miss your W, you will either be kite or melee to death. (×_×;）

Very standard spell, good for engage and/or escape. Also don't tell me you put Flash on D, F stand for Flash you m-

You would want this against most matchup to fully utilized Rakan early game power to start snowball for your team

Don't take this unless you are vsing match where you cannot do anything and need to be roaming a lot

This is recommended with ghost for a roaming style, very hard to be caught and can set up play easier.

Standard ADC. The end. What else do you expect me to say? Its good for you ya know. More health is good

Option 1: AP Frontline
Primary: Sorcery

Arcane Comet: This will give you extra poke damage. The moar the better. P/S: for matchup with slow (by slow I mean extremely slow) like Nasus, you could switch for Phase Rush.

Manaflow Band: Give you extra mana so you can stay in lane for longer. Basically the best in this row.

Absolute Focus: The most viable in this row, give you extra damage. Can be trade out for Transcendence for more AH but I don't like it :/

Scorch: Pretty straight forward, more poke. Can be trade out for Gathering Storm if you like more damage.

Secondary: Domination

Sudden Impact: A great rune that goes well with your W and E. Can be trade out for Cheap Shot for extra true damage or Taste of Blood for life

Ultimate Hunter: Shorter ult = more impactful or bring Relentless Hunter if you want to roam (even though I would not understand why).

Bonus:
2 Adaptive and 1 HP (or whatever you want really)

Option 2: Full Tank
Primary: Resolve

Aftershock: The best in this skill tree, you can also use Grasp of the Undying but because Rakan is classified as ranged, the effect will be reduced.

Shield Bash: A good choice because Rakan has shield passive and from his E Battle Dance but his Battle Dance can't be cast on himself therefore this is basically useless in lane so I always run Demolish.

Conditioning: Good choice for extra resistance, can change for Second Wind if against ranged like Quinn or Bone Plating if against all-in melee like Garen.

Overgrowth: My usual choice cuz it give you extra HP, change to Unflinching against heavy CC team.

Secondary: Sorcery

Manaflow Band: Give you more mana so can last longer in lane.

Gathering Storm: More damage late game, I still don't think this one is too good so you can go Scorch for better poke or Waterwalking for roam (recommended)

Bonus:
2 Adaptive and 1 HP (or whatever you want really)

Primary: Inspiration

Option 4: AD Carry
Primary: Precision

Fleet Footwork: This will make your laning relatively safer but if you want to "go big or go home", bring Lethal Tempo or Press the Attack (recommended). Never, ever bring Conqueror!

Triumph: General ADC stuff :/

Legend: Alacrity: Make you attack faster, Legend: Tenacity can work against heavy CC team and Legend: Bloodline will help you survive

Coup de Grace: Pretty much the best rune for this tree

Secondary: Domination

Sudden Impact: I just love this rune, ok?

Ravenous Hunter: Gib gud lifesteal, bird live longer

Bonus:
1 attack speed and 2 armour (or whatever you want really)

Option 5: AP Assassin
Primary: Domination

Electrocute: Do I even need to explain this choice? Predator is also poggers if you gonna buy boot first back and run around.

Sudden Impact: I like this one the most compare to the other 2 because (see above).

Eyeball Collection: More damage = good.

Ultimate Hunter: (see above)

Secondary: Sorcery

Celerity: This combine with Waterwalking and Predator and Mobility Boots will make you quite speedy or if you are not using Predator then pick Manaflow Band.

Waterwalking: (see above)

Bonus:
2 Adaptive and 1 HP (or whatever you want really)

WARNING: This guide exist only to "guide" you so I encourage you to think and be more creative while playing rather than following this step by step!

Turbo Chemtank: Your team need a quick engage? Better pick up this item then

Everfrost: Very underrated item that fit in well for extra cc

Hextech Rocketbelt: Good item to get in range for your abilities and for wave clear and ... You get the gist

Luden's Tempest: For bursting down squishy(squish squish)

Shurelya's Battlesong: Good speed good fight

Locket of the Iron Solari: Shield keep team from dying fast

Meh:

Sunfire Aegis: There is a better tank mythic option

Frostfire Gauntlet: I don't normally buy this item with any champ so I'm not sure how well it will perform

Moonstone Renewer: This is not a bad item by any means but there is just more viable choices for Rakan

Night Harvester: I just prefer Luden's Tempest over this but your choice

Galeforce: This is basically the ADC version of Hextech Rocketbelt minus the waveclear plus the damage

Immortal Shieldbow: Allow you to survive burst

Kraken Slayer: Shred tank. The end

Riftmaker: I generally don't like this since Rakan duelling power is really weak especially compared to meta top laner like Aatrox or Darius

Dustblade of Draktharr: Rakan's abilities doesn't have any AD ratio so these thing will be useless

Eclipse: Same as above

Prowler's Claw: Same as above the above

Trinity Force: Its like, bad, ya know? High CD abilities with no AD ratio

Divine Sunderer: Same as above

Goredrinker: Any AD item is bad

Stridebreaker: It can work if you try hard enough

Liandry's Anguish: Your abilities have relatively high CD and there are better choices so this isn't worth buying

Imperial Mandate: Your cd is too high for this to be proc effectively



Legendary Items:

There are too many items and I can't be bothered so just read note I left in the build
