By PykEugeo

Welcome to my guide! I'm PykEugeo, Italian Pyke OTP, and in this guide, I'll be sharing all of my experiences with Mel.

After spending some time playing Pyke, I felt the need to also play other Playmaker supports that might be compatible with my playstyle. I became passionate about Mel after seeing hher trailer and her abilities which were very similar to Pyke but instead of multiplying gold, Mel is much more selfish as a support xD.
It doesn't matter if you are a challenger or a bronze, in this guide you will find everything you need to know more about the champion and the tricks to transform your playstyle into a guaranteed victory (plz riot nerf mel xD).

Searing Brilliance
INNATE: Mel's damaging basic attacks and abilities apply a stack of Overwhelm to enemies for 5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking infinitely.

Overwhelm: Store 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 (based on Golden Eclipse's rank) (+ 25% AP) magic damage on the affected enemy with the first stack, reducedγ€Œ to 60% 」against minions. For each stack, store an additional 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 (based on Golden Eclipse's rank) (+ 0.75% AP) magic damage on the target. If the total post-mitigation damage stored would deal fatal damage to the target (including through shields), the next stack will consume them all to deal the damage.

INNATE: Mel's ability casts each generate 3 stacks for 5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent casts and stacking up to 9 times. Her next basic attack consumes all stacks to additionally fire 3 / 6 / 9 (based on amount of stacks) bolts at the target, each dealing 5 βˆ’ 20 (based on level)
(+ 1% AP) magic damage.

Details
  • The first stack also benefits from the per-stack bonus stored damage.
  • Whenever An icon for Mel's ability Golden Eclipse's damage would put a target below Overwhelm threshold, it will show a different mark above the target's head.
Radiant Volley
ACTIVE: Mel bombards luminous bolts that explode upon the target location, each dealing magic damage to nearby enemies, reduced to 25% against minions.

COST: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Mana
COOLDOWN: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 sec.
CAST TIME: 0.25 sec.

MAGIC DAMAGE PER EXPLOSION: 13 / 16 / 19 / 22 / 25 (+ 8.5% AP)

Number of Bolts: 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10

Total Magic Damage: 78 / 112 / 152 / 198 / 250 (+ 51 / 59.5 / 68 / 76.5 / 85% AP)

Details
  • Spell shields will block a single bolt (for example Spell Shield).
  • This ability will cast from wherever the caster is at the end of the cast time.
Rebuttal
ACTIVE: Mel forms a protective barrier around herself for 1 second, becoming invulnerable to non- turret damage and gaining 30% decaying bonus movement speed. All hostile projectiles from enemy champions that collide with the barrier will be destroyed instantly before Mel fires the same projectiles as her own toward or in the direction of the original sources.
Replicated projectiles have all the same features (See Details) as the original. They will retain the damage the original would deal and convert the damage type to magic damage, then reduce the damage to a portion.

COST: 60 / 45 / 30 / 15 / 0 Mana
COOLDOWN: 35 / 32 / 29 / 26 / 23 sec.
CAST TIME: NONE.

Replicated Projectile Magic Damage: 40 / 47.5 / 55 / 62.5 / 70% (+ 5% per 100 AP) of the original projectile's damage.

Details
  • Damage type, spell effects, as well as interactions with spell shield and projectile-interception effects, all vary based on the original missile that was replicated.
  • Rebuttal's barrier will also instantly destroy missiles that are already within its radius when the ability is cast.
  • The replicated missile will mimic all of the original missile's properties, which includes its range, width, speed, acceleration, angle (if a cone), height, and sight radius.
    • The only exception to this is the copied missile's path, or trajectory, which is based on the targeting paradigm that the original missile used when fired by its source. The replicated missile will more or less acquire the original missile source as the target.
      • If the original missile was fired by a unit or auto-targeted effect, the replicated missile will be fired as a homing missile with the target being the original missile source.
      • If the original missile was fired by a direction-targeted effect, the replicated missile will fire in the direction of the original missile source.
      • PENDING FOR TEST: Missile path behavior with vector-targeted and location-targeted effects.
  • The replicated missile will mimic all of the functions of and copy the behavior of the original missile, unless otherwise stated. This includes every aspect and effect of the missile conforming to the attack or spell from which the missile originated.
    • The scaling of the effects of the copied missile is calculated using the original missile source's attributes (namely their stats). The damage of the missile only benefits from Mel's damage modifiers and magic penetration, and not the original source's.

In order to use Mel's W at its best, I recommend you watch the video that Vandiril offered to the entire League of Legends community several times, which I highly recommend.
Solar Snare

ACTIVE: Mel fires an orb in the target direction, dealing magic damage to enemies hit and rooting them for a duration.

The orb also deals magic damage and slows by 30% every 0.125 seconds to nearby enemies. These effects linger for 0.75 seconds after exiting.

Solar Snare deals 50% damage against minions.

COST: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 MANA
COOLDOWN: 12 / 11.5 / 11 / 10.5 / 10 sec.
CAST TIME: 0.25 sec.

Magic Damage: 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 50% AP)
Root Duration: 1.75 / 1.875 / 2 / 2.125 / 2.25 seconds
Magic Damage per Tick: 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 (+ 1% AP)

Details
  • Spell Shield will only block the root.
  • The slow debuff lasts for the same duration as its tick rate (0.125 seconds).
  • This ability will cast from wherever the caster is at the end of the cast time.
Golden Eclipse
PASSIVE: Searing Brilliance Overwhelm stacks store more damage.

ACTIVE: Mel unleashes a radiant blast on all enemies affected by Searing Brilliance Overwhelm, dealing magic damage.

An enemy champion affected by Searing Brilliance Overwhelm is required to cast this ability. The target does not have to be visible to be hit by this ability.

COST: 100 MANA
COOLDOWN: 120 / 100 / 80
CAST TIME: 0.75 sec.
EFFECT RADIUS: GLOBAL

Increased Stored Damage: 15 / 30 / 45
Stored Damage Increase per Stack: 1 / 2 / 3
Magic Damage: 125 / 175 / 225 (+ 40% AP) (+ 4 / 7 / 10 (+ 2.5% AP) per Searing Brilliance Overwhelm stack on the target)

Pros
+ 51% Winrate DAY ONE
+ Excellent Build Diversity
+ Great Laning + Teamfights
+ Mel is a Executioner
+ Hard CC + Excelent for farming and Prio
+ HIGH Burst dmgs

Laning Phase:
  • High Burst and Range Q poke: Mel has an absolutely high Q range, Radiant Volley, along with the E, Solar Snare, which allows her to put the enemy Adcs/Support's permanence under the tower.
  • Crowd control: her E, Solar Snare, if used correctly in the disengagement phase can save you.
  • She counters 97% of ADCs: Not only does her W, Rebuttal make her immune/reflecting to all projectiles, and multiple projectiles, but during that time she also becomes invulnerable, and her kit is extremely effective in bot lane.
Late Game:
  • Impressive lane control power: She only needs one or two items to wave clear 1 entire wave and this allows her to have enough pressure in lane to be able to move easily around the map, to put deep vision or invade the opponent's jungle to find a kill or get some objectives.
  • Protecting carries: Her CCs are enough to allow her to protect her carry and her burst is more than enough for 2v2s.
  • Her Passive to execute is powerful: I love her passive, Searing Brilliance to execute, through his abilities and basics, if the enemy is under a certain threshold of HP she can execute... there is no escape for anyone, both tank and squishy.
Cons
- She hasnt dashes
- Hard CCs are a problem
- When the enemy exploits the dead time of the W and/or R it's a problem
- Galio, Pantheon and friends are a problem
- She hasnt mobility ah no wait i can build Shurelya's Battlesong XD
- It's difficult to escape from a 1vs3 ambush

Laning Phase:
  • Ambushes: Like every champion, Mel also has difficulty 1 vs 3, always try to respect the non vision and wait to have info on where the enemies are before making risky movements.
  • Keep Timing of W: Surely as soon as everyone realizes that Mel's weak point is her cooldowns, they will pay more attention to them and exploit them against you, don't rush to use your spells and use them to reflect spells with higher priority (for example Lux's Q instead of E, or Neeko's E)
  • Struggles against Galio and Not Kit project. Champ: there are some champions unfortunately or fortunately that regardless of everything counter mages, these are champions like Galio who have a formidable kit against her, in these cases I suggest you feed elsewhere then JUST ROAM!
Late Game:
  • Vulnerable to burst: Mel can be quickly killed if she is hit by a burst of enemy damage.
  • Difficult to carry if behind: Mel is not a champion who can carry a game on her own if behind, and relies on her team to deal damage and get kills.
  • Weak against champions with Multiple CCs: Mel is vulnerable to champions with crowd control, which can interrupt her abilities and make her useless in fights.

Flash
Flash provides Mel with the ability to maneuver past obstacles and quickly close the gap with enemies. This is particularly valuable for initiating engagements with her E-Q combo or for reaching fleeing enemy carries, allowing her to swiftly disrupt their positioning and control the battlefield.

Moreover, Flash enables Mel to position herself optimally for her abilities, including her ultimate. By using Flash effectively, Mel can enhance the impact of her crowd control and damage, significantly increasing her team's chances of securing kills and winning team fights.

If Mel has taken the Hextech Flashtraption rune, Flash can be utilized creatively between bushes to surprise and outplay the enemy team in the bot lane. This allows her to set up engages and catch opponents off guard with her combo, gaining a strategic advantage for her team in skirmishes and engagements.

Ignite
When playing Mel with Ignite, you gain a significant offensive boost. This allows for dealing additional damage and securing kills during skirmishes. Ignite also reduces enemy regeneration, putting pressure on their lane.

The use of Ignite increases pressure on opponents, forcing them to be cautious and facilitating kills, especially when combined with your ad carry. Mel can capitalize on this increased pressure due to her crowd control and damage, giving the team an advantage during fights.

Ignite enhances Mel's killing potential, especially in the early game, and can make the difference between a guaranteed kill and an escaping enemy. It also pressures the enemy lane, allowing your ad carry to gain more farm or deal damage more freely.

Finally, Ignite is effective against champions with high healing or regeneration, reducing their effectiveness and making kills easier during skirmishes.
Exhaust
Exhaust offers Mel valuable utility and defensive capabilities during both laning phase and team fights. By casting Exhaust on enemy champions, Mel can significantly reduce their damage output, making it easier for her and her ADC to survive incoming threats.

During the laning phase, Exhaust can be used defensively to mitigate the damage dealt by aggressive enemy champions or to neutralize potential all-in attempts from the opposing bot lane. This allows Mel and her ADC to stay safer in lane and potentially turn the tide of skirmishes in their favor.

In team fights, Exhaust can be crucial for protecting key allies, such as the ADC or other carries, from burst damage or assassins diving into the backline. By casting Exhaust on priority targets, Mel can help peel for her team and disrupt the enemy's offensive capabilities, giving her team a better chance at winning the fight.

Additionally, Exhaust can be used offensively to hinder the effectiveness of high-threat enemy champions, such as assassins or hypercarries, by reducing their damage output and slowing their advance. This can create opportunities for Mel and her team to capitalize on and secure kills during team fights or skirmishes.
Heal
Heal offers Mel and her ADC valuable survivability and sustain during laning phase and team fights. When cast, Heal provides a burst of health to both Mel and her ADC, helping them to stay in lane longer and potentially turn the tide of skirmishes.

During the laning phase, Heal can be used to quickly restore health to Mel and her ADC in response to enemy poke or all-in attempts. This can allow them to sustain through trades and maintain pressure in lane, giving them an advantage over their opponents.

In team fights, Heal can serve as a clutch lifesaver, providing an emergency burst of healing to Mel or her ADC when they are low on health. This can help them survive burst damage or execute a well-timed escape, turning the tide of the fight in their favor.

Additionally, Heal can be used proactively to provide a small movement speed boost to Mel and her ADC, allowing them to reposition or chase down fleeing enemies more effectively. This can be particularly useful during engages or disengages, helping Mel and her team secure kills or retreat safely.

The itemization for Mel requires flexibility and adaptability. It's essential to carefully evaluate the game situation and the needs of your team to build a set of items that maximizes Mel's effectiveness and support on the battlefield.

This is a standard burst build for Mel: Sorcerer's Shoes provide maximum burst damage when the enemy team is squishy, amplifying the effects of other items to ensure devastating damage in a single rotation. Zaz'Zak's Realmspike is a key item for Mel, granting bonus burst damage after casting an ability, while also boosting her magic damage and amplifying her poke. This synergy makes it easier for Mel to soften up enemies from a safe distance and follow up with her high-damage abilities.

Luden's Companion is a core item for Mel, ensuring she always has enough mana to maintain her pressure across the map. Its added burst of damage and movement speed further enhance her ability to kite enemies or chase down targets. Mel's power spikes dramatically with Shadowflame, which shreds through enemy shields and ensures her abilities hit harder against squishy or shielded opponents, making her even deadlier in team fights and skirmishes.

Building Cryptbloom brings additional burst damage and utility to the table. Its unique passive allows Mel to deal significant magic damage in an area while healing allies in range, granting her extra survivability and team utility without sacrificing her role as a high-burst damage dealer.

Finally, rounding off the build with Rabadon's Deathcap ensures Mel reaches her maximum damage potential. The massive boost to ability power exponentially increases the effectiveness of her kit, allowing her to decimate targets in a single rotation and dominate team fights.

This combination of items ensures that Mel not only excels at bursting down key targets but also maintains utility and sustained presence throughout the match, making it a reliable setup for most games.

This is a highly unconventional yet secretly effective support-oriented build for Mel: this setup trades some of her raw damage potential for a playstyle that enhances team coordination and bolsters ally performance, making it ideal for a more supportive approach.

Shurelya's Battlesong is the cornerstone of this build, providing Mel and her team with bursts of movement speed. This allows for more effective engages, disengages, and repositioning during team fights. By pairing her natural crowd control abilities with the bonus speed from Shurelya's Battlesong, Mel can secure picks and protect her backline with ease.

Shadowflame remains a key component, ensuring Mel retains enough damage to stay relevant, especially against shield-heavy opponents. It strikes a balance between utility and burst potential, helping her punish overextending enemies while maintaining her supportive role.

Cryptbloom synergizes beautifully with this build, as it provides additional healing to nearby allies while delivering respectable area-of-effect magic damage. This dual-purpose item ensures that Mel can sustain her team in prolonged fights while still contributing meaningful damage to skirmishes.

Imperial Mandate amplifies the supportive nature of this build by marking enemies hit by Mel's crowd control, causing allies to deal bonus damage when attacking those marked targets. This item not only boosts the team's overall damage output but also allows Mel to contribute indirectly, focusing on enabling her allies rather than outright carrying fights herself.

The inclusion of Sorcerer's Shoes ensures her abilities still penetrate through enemy defenses, maintaining her relevance as a threat even in this less damage-focused build. Finally, Zaz'Zak's Realmspike provides a reliable burst of damage when engaging, making it easier to catch enemies off guard while complementing her crowd control-heavy kit.

If the game stretches into the late stages and your team finds itself in a desperate situation, this supportive build for Mel has a hidden ace up its sleeve: the option to adapt by selling the Zaz'Zak's Realmspike for a Rabadon's Deathcap.

This change dramatically increases Mel's damage output, allowing her to transition from a utility-focused enabler into a potent damage dealer capable of turning the tide in clutch moments. The immense ability power provided by Rabadon's Deathcap amplifies the scaling on all of her abilities, making her crowd control, burst damage, and even utility significantly more impactful.

In this scenario, Mel shifts her role from supporting her allies to actively carrying fights and securing kills. While this adaptation sacrifices some of her utility, it can be the decisive factor in closing out a drawn-out game where overwhelming damage is the only path to victory.

This strategic flexibility is what makes the build so unique. It emphasizes teamwork and ally empowerment throughout most of the game but allows for a dramatic shift into a high-risk, high-reward damage-dealing role if the situation demands it.

This build prioritizes teamwork over personal glory, turning Mel into a pivotal enabler who can guide her team toward victory. While the first build leans heavily into Mel's ability to carry games single-handedly through overwhelming damage, this alternative setup emphasizes utility, crowd control, and ally empowerment. It transforms Mel into a high-impact support capable of tilting fights in her team's favor without drawing attention to herself, making it a versatile and stealthy option for players who value strategic victories over personal kill counts.

Celestial Opposition
VS

Zaz'Zak's Realmspike
Choosing Celestial Opposition as a support item is recommended when you need to increase your resistance to enemy damage, particularly against opponents with high potential for melee or ranged damage. Its passive "Become Blessed" provides excellent utility in team fights by slowing surrounding enemies upon losing the Blessed effect. This item is especially useful for Mel when you want to execute a full combo in a duel without taking too much damage, as it reduces a percentage of incoming damage for 1-2 seconds. This window of reduced damage is often sufficient to one-shot an enemy and safely escape. Zaz'Zak's Realmspike is a potent item for Mel when you are experiencing a hard snowball and want to maximize your burst damage to secure as many kills as possible. The item's passive allows Mel to amplify her damage output significantly and contribute to multi-target damage during skirmishes, making it particularly effective for quickly eliminating priority targets and dominating team fights. The item is especially valuable in situations where you're ahead and want to maintain aggressive pressure on the enemy team. By leveraging the explosive damage, Mel can continue to pick off enemies efficiently and extend her lead.

However, for the late game, it is often recommended to sell Zaz'Zak's Realmspike in favor of Celestial Opposition. Switching to Celestial Opposition provides increased survivability with its damage reduction and crowd control utility, which can be crucial during late-game team fights. The missions associated with Zaz'Zak's Realmspike remain completed and won't reset when you make the switch, allowing you to adapt your build as the game progresses without losing progress.

Lost Chapter
The Lost Chapter is a crucial item for Mel support, especially on the first recall. This item provides 40 Ability Power, 300 Mana, and 10 Ability Haste, making it an excellent choice for Mel who relies on spamming abilities to deal damage and create pressure. Its passive effect, which restores 20% of your maximum mana upon leveling up, is particularly useful in the early game to maintain mana sustain, allowing you to stay active in lane and continue applying pressure without worrying about running out of mana. Building Lost Chapter early enhances Mel's ability to poke and trade with enemies effectively, setting her up for successful ganks and skirmishes, and is the foundation for transitioning into her core items like Luden's Companion.
Bandleglass Mirror
The Bandleglass Mirror is an essential item for Mel support, offering flexibility and utility after the first recall. Providing 20 Ability Power, 150 Health, and 10 Ability Haste, it enhances Mel’s early-game presence by improving her ability to trade and poke effectively while increasing her durability in lane. The Ability Haste also allows Mel to cast her abilities more frequently, keeping up consistent pressure on opponents and assisting allies.

What makes Bandleglass Mirror particularly valuable is its passive effect, which restores mana whenever you heal or shield an ally or immobilize an enemy champion. For Mel, whose kit frequently roots and slows enemies, this passive ensures a steady supply of mana, allowing her to stay active in extended skirmishes without needing to retreat.

Moreover, Bandleglass Mirror serves as the foundation for transitioning into either Shurelya's Battlesong or Imperial Mandate, offering flexibility to adapt to the game’s circumstances. If your team benefits from increased mobility and coordinated engages, Shurelya's Battlesong is the ideal choice, amplifying your team’s ability to chase or disengage effectively. On the other hand, Imperial Mandate excels in team compositions that thrive on burst damage and aggressive plays, rewarding Mel’s crowd control with additional damage and marking enemies for ally follow-up.

This adaptability ensures that Mel can tailor her build to support her team's specific needs, whether prioritizing mobility or damage amplification, making Bandleglass Mirror a crucial early-game component.
Amplifying Tome
The Amplifying Tome is a basic item that provides 20 Ability Power, making it a cost-effective option for Mel support when looking to increase her damage output early in the game. On the first recall, purchasing an Amplifying Tome is a good choice if you don't have enough gold for more expensive components like the Lost Chapter or Bandleglass Mirror. It offers an immediate power spike in damage, which can be critical for trading in lane and maintaining pressure on opponents. Additionally, the Amplifying Tome is a versatile item that builds into many of Mel's core items, such as Luden's Companion, Cryptbloom, and other AP-heavy options, making it a flexible and efficient investment to further her item progression.
Sapphire Crystal
The Sapphire Crystal is a basic item that provides 250 Mana, making it a useful purchase for Mel support when you need additional mana to sustain your presence in the lane. Picking up a Sapphire Crystal on the first recall is beneficial if you find yourself running low on mana frequently and want to continue poking and trading with enemies without having to back frequently. This item is especially valuable in the early game for Mel, as her abilities require a significant amount of mana, and having extra mana allows her to use her abilities more liberally.

Additionally, the Sapphire Crystal is a key component for building into the Lost Chapter, which is a core item for Mel. It helps to transition into more powerful items that grant mana sustain and ability power, such as Luden's Companion or Seraph's Embrace. Thus, investing in a Sapphire Crystal early can facilitate a smooth progression into your core items, ensuring that you maintain pressure on the enemy team throughout the early and mid-game.
Dark Seal
The Dark Seal is a high-risk, high-reward item that is often purchased by Mel support for its potential to snowball games. It provides 15 Ability Power and 50 Health, and it has a unique passive that grants additional Ability Power for each stack of Glory, with a maximum of 10 stacks. You gain stacks for champion takedowns (kills or assists), making it an item that rewards aggressive play and successful skirmishes. Here's a closer look at the risks and benefits of this item:

Benefits:
  • Cost-Effective Power Spike: At a low cost of 350 gold, the Dark Seal provides an efficient boost in Ability Power and health, making it an attractive early-game item for amplifying Mel’s damage output.
  • Snowball Potential: The unique passive allows Mel to increase her Ability Power significantly by gaining stacks. Each kill grants 2 stacks, and each assist grants 1 stack, with a maximum of 10 stacks providing up to 55 Ability Power when fully stacked.
  • Synergy with Mejai's Soulstealer: The Dark Seal builds into Mejai's Soulstealer, an item that can further increase your Ability Power based on stacks. This synergy can lead to explosive damage potential if you manage to maintain and increase your stacks without dying.
Risks:
  • Stack Loss on Death: One of the main risks of building a Dark Seal is losing 5 stacks upon death. This can significantly reduce your Ability Power if you have built up many stacks, making it a risky item to rely on if you are frequently caught out or targeted by the enemy team.
  • Reliance on Aggression: The effectiveness of the Dark Seal heavily depends on your ability to secure kills and assists. If you are unable to participate in takedowns, the item provides relatively low value compared to other Ability Power items.
  • Potential to Snowball Backwards: While the item can help you snowball when ahead, it can also set you back if you are unable to maintain stacks. This makes it crucial to balance aggressive plays with safe positioning, especially in team fights.
Boots
You will buy Boots if you have excess gold which will later allow you to buy more important boots. They are very useful for roaming and returning to lane sooner. Later I will better describe which ones to opt for based on the situations.
Control Ward
Purchasing a Control Ward on the first recall with Mel in the bot lane can be crucial for maintaining vision control and preventing enemy ganks or roams. If you find yourself pushed back to base earlier than expected, it may indicate that your lane is struggling or that the enemy jungler has been applying pressure. Buying a Control Ward allows you to regain vision in key areas of the map, such as the river or the enemy jungle entrances, helping to prevent further setbacks and allowing you to safely resume laning. Additionally, placing a Control Ward in the river bush or the enemy tri-bush can provide valuable information about the enemy's movements, potentially averting future ganks and enabling your team to make informed decisions.

When playing Mel support, the choice of boots can significantly impact her performance and effectiveness in different scenarios. Here’s a breakdown of when to build each type of boots:
Sorcerer's Shoes
Sorcerer's Shoes
Mercury's Treads
Mercury's Treads
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
Ionian Boots of Lucidity

Luden's Companion
VS

Shurelya's Battlesong
Building Luden's Companion as the first item on Mel support can be a highly effective choice when you want to maximize her burst damage and poke potential in the early game. Luden's Companion synergizes well with Mel's playstyle by providing significant Ability Power and Ability Haste, which allow her to execute her combos more frequently and deliver substantial magic damage to her opponents. The item grants 100 Ability Power, enhancing the damage output of her abilities and making her a significant threat to squishy targets. Additionally, the 10 Ability Haste lets Mel use her skills more often, enabling her to apply constant pressure on the enemy laners. The item also provides 600 bonus Mana, which helps her sustain her aggressive playstyle without running out of mana during prolonged engagements.

One of the key advantages of building Luden's Companion is its unique passive, which deals bonus magic damage to the target hit by Mel's abilities and additional enemies within range. This passive increases her burst potential and makes her pokes more impactful, allowing her to chip away at the enemy's health bars effectively. The passive's ability to hit multiple targets is particularly useful in skirmishes and team fights, as it spreads the damage and increases her impact. This feature can be especially oppressive against squishy enemy champions with "low" mobility or poor defensive capabilities, such as Jhin, Jinx, Sona, or Nami. By building Luden's Companion, Mel can punish these champions and force them out of lane or create kill opportunities for her ADC.

In lane, Luden's Companion enhances Mel's ability to harass and zone enemies from minions, making it difficult for them to farm safely. This pressure can lead to significant advantages in lane control and allow Mel to set up plays with her ADC. When paired with aggressive ADCs like Draven, Lucian, or Caitlyn, Mel's increased damage output from Luden's Companion can lead to early kills and tower pressure, snowballing the lane in her team's favor. The synergy between Mel's burst and her ADC's damage makes it challenging for the enemy bot lane to withstand their aggression, leading to potential dominance in the laning phase.

While building Luden's Companion requires confidence in your ability to play aggressively and effectively utilize Mel's abilities, it can be a rewarding choice when executed properly. Mel must capitalize on her mobility and cooldown resets to maximize the item’s passive damage, weaving in and out of fights to apply her damage while avoiding being caught out. Good positioning and map awareness are crucial to ensure that she can safely engage and disengage, making the most of Luden's Companion's benefits.
Building Shurelya's Battlesong as the first item on Mel support can be an excellent choice for enhancing her team utility and addressing her lack of mobility. Unlike more burst-focused options, Shurelya's Battlesong provides Mel with tools to adapt to dynamic fights and better position herself, enabling her to impact the game in ways beyond raw damage. This item offers 50 Ability Power, 15 Ability Haste, 4% movement speed and 125% base mana regeneration, giving her a well-rounded stat boost that enhances both her survivability and her ability to influence fights.

As a champion without innate dashes, Mel often relies on precise positioning to maximize the effectiveness of her abilities like Radiant Volley and Solar Snare. The active effect of Shurelya's Battlesong, which grants a 30% movement speed bonus to Mel and nearby allies for 4 seconds, allows her to close gaps, evade threats, or reposition during critical moments. This boost not only compensates for her immobility but also provides a decisive edge in both offensive and defensive plays. Whether it’s chasing down a fleeing enemy or disengaging from a dangerous situation, the active ensures that Mel can maneuver effectively and support her team.

The movement speed bonus from Shurelya's Battlesong is particularly impactful in team fights, enabling Mel to lead her team into battle or set up plays with her crowd control. Abilities like Solar Snare become easier to land when she can close the distance quickly, catching enemies off guard and providing her team with opportunities to follow up. Pairing Shurelya's Battlesong with aggressive teammates like Tristana, Kalista, or even a diving jungler like Jarvan IV amplifies the impact of coordinated engages, turning skirmishes into decisive victories.

Unlike builds that prioritize burst damage, Shurelya's Battlesong leans into Mel’s supportive potential, emphasizing her role as a facilitator rather than a primary damage dealer. The item's passive effect, which grants a good movement speed boost to allies creating consistent utility throughout the game. Combined with her ability to root and slow enemies, Mel becomes an invaluable asset for enabling her team to stick to their targets or escape unfavorable situations. This synergy ensures that even in extended fights, Mel’s contributions are felt through her ability to control the battlefield and enhance her team's mobility.

Shurelya's Battlesong is an outstanding choice for Mel when her team benefits more from utility and mobility than outright damage. It allows her to play to her strengths as a crowd-control-oriented champion while compensating for her lack of innate dashes. By enabling smoother positioning, better engages, and safer disengages, Shurelya's Battlesong transforms Mel into a versatile playmaker capable of adapting to any situation. This item not only enhances her impact in fights but also aligns with a supportive mindset, ensuring her team has the tools to succeed.

Shadowflame
Shadowflame is an excellent second item for Mel because it significantly enhances her burst potential and ability to finish off low-health targets. With 110 Ability Power and 15 Magic Penetration, Shadowflame increases the damage output of her abilities, allowing Mel to deal even more significant damage to enemies, especially those with magic resist.

The item's unique passive makes magic damage and true damage critically strike enemies below 40% health, dealing 20% increased damage. This passive synergizes well with Mel’s playstyle as an assassin, enabling her to execute low-health targets more efficiently and secure kills with her combos. This critical strike bonus is particularly useful for finishing off opponents who might otherwise escape, making Shadowflame a crucial item for maximizing Mel's kill potential.

Overall, Shadowflame is a powerful power spike item for Mel, allowing her to maintain her role as a high-burst assassin throughout the game. It is especially effective against squishy opponents and teams that stack magic resist, helping her pierce through defenses and remain a constant threat.
Liandry's Torment
Liandry's Torment is a great choice for Mel support, especially in situations where sustained damage and effectiveness against tanky champions are key. This item provides 70 Ability Power and 300 Health, both of which are valuable for a support like Mel, who needs a good balance of damage and survivability.

The Ability Power boosts her damage output, while the Health gives her more durability to stay in fights and position well during engagements. Liandry's Torment's passive, which causes burn damage dealing 1% of the target's maximum health every 0.5 seconds for 3 seconds, is particularly powerful against champions with high health like Cho'Gath, Malphite, or Zac.

This synergizes well with Mel's kit, as her abilities can constantly apply burn damage during fights. The second passive, which increases Mel's damage by 2% for every second spent in combat with enemy champions (up to 6%), fits perfectly with her playstyle, as Mel excels in extended engagements thanks to her ability to engage and disrupt enemies with abilities like Solar Snare and Radiant Volley. The stacking damage passive further enhances her impact in prolonged team fights, where she can accumulate extra damage while staying in the fight.

The synergy between Liandry's Torment's passive and Mel's kit is strong, as the burn damage applies easily through her area-of-effect abilities and her ability to stay engaged in fights. Additionally, Liandry's Torment takes advantage of long fights to maximize damage, making it a solid option against compositions featuring high-health or tanky champions. When built as a second or third item, Liandry's Torment can be especially useful for dealing damage to those champions focusing on building resistances, allowing Mel to shine in longer skirmishes where her abilities deal more damage thanks to the ramping passive.
Zhonya's Hourglass
Zhonya's Hourglass is an essential item to consider as a second item for Mel in specific situations, particularly when facing teams with heavy AD (attack damage) compositions or dangerous enemy assassins like Zed, Talon, or Kha'Zix. With 105 Ability Power and 50 Armor, Zhonya's Hourglass not only enhances Mel's damage output but also provides valuable survivability against physical damage threats.

The core strength of Zhonya's Hourglass lies in its unique active ability, which allows Mel to enter stasis for 2.5 seconds. During this time, she becomes untargetable and invulnerable, rendering her immune to all damage and crowd control effects. This stasis can be crucial in dodging lethal abilities, such as Zed's Death Mark or Kha'Zix's Void Assault burst, effectively nullifying their kill potential. By timing the activation of Zhonya's Hourglass correctly, Mel can outplay enemy assassins and avoid being burst down in critical moments.

Building Zhonya's Hourglass as a second item is particularly advantageous when the enemy team comprises mostly AD champions or when they have fed AD threats. The 50 Armor helps mitigate incoming physical damage, making it harder for AD champions to eliminate Mel quickly. This is especially useful in games where the enemy team relies heavily on AD-based champions to carry fights, as it allows Mel to stay alive longer and contribute more to skirmishes and teamfights.

Moreover, Zhonya's Hourglass can be a game-changer in teamfights. By going into stasis, Mel can disrupt the enemy team's focus, absorbing key abilities and buying time for her team to reposition or retaliate. This can be particularly effective if Mel has already engaged and dealt significant damage, as it forces the enemy to either waste cooldowns on her stasis or redirect their attention elsewhere. Using Zhonya's Hourglass strategically in a teamfight can help turn the tide in your favor, providing your team with an opportunity to capitalize on the disruption and secure advantages.

In conclusion, while Zhonya's Hourglass is not always the go-to second item for Mel, it is an excellent choice in games where you face heavy AD threats or dangerous enemy assassins. Its active ability provides a critical tool for outplaying opponents and surviving dangerous situations, while the additional Armor helps Mel withstand physical damage. When built in the right circumstances, Zhonya's Hourglass can significantly enhance Mel's survivability and impact in fights, allowing her to continue being a dominant presence on the battlefield.

Cryptbloom
Cryptbloom is an invaluable item for Mel that offers a blend of damage, utility, and cooldown reduction, making it a versatile choice in her item build. With a total price of 2850 gold, it provides 60 Ability Power, 30 Magic Penetration, and 15 Ability Haste. These stats enhance Mel's burst damage and ability to apply pressure on the enemy team, while the unique passive offers significant utility in teamfights.

The 60 Ability Power increases Mel's damage output, while the 30 Magic Penetration ensures that her abilities can cut through enemy magic resistance more effectively, amplifying her damage against both squishy targets and those with some magic resist. This combination makes Cryptbloom a potent item for maximizing Mel's damage during mid-game skirmishes and teamfights, representing a key power spike in her build.

The 15 Ability Haste is particularly valuable for reducing the cooldowns of Mel's abilities, allowing her to engage and disengage more frequently and maintain a higher level of pressure throughout fights. This contributes to her ability to execute her high-impact combos more often, making her an even greater threat to the enemy team.

The unique passive of Cryptbloom creates a healing nova at the location of an enemy champion you recently damaged and subsequently took down. This nova heals allies for 100 (+25% of Ability Power) and has a 60-second cooldown. This passive adds significant team utility, providing an AoE healing effect that can be crucial in prolonged engagements. The healing can turn the tide in fights by sustaining your team and enabling them to stay in the fray longer, particularly when combined with Mel's burst damage to secure quick takedowns.

Overall, Cryptbloom is a powerful item for Mel because it combines damage enhancement with a valuable utility component. The item acts as a strong power spike by boosting her ability to deal magic damage and providing a healing benefit that supports her team. This makes it a highly effective choice when looking to maximize both individual impact and team contribution during the mid-game and early late-game phases.
Void Staff
Void Staff is a powerful item for Mel that provides 95 Ability Power and 40 Magic Penetration. It is particularly useful for cutting through high amounts of magic resistance, making it an essential choice when facing enemies who build significant magic resist, such as tanks like Leona, Rell, or Sejuani.

However, due to its higher cost of 3000 gold compared to Cryptbloom, and its more specialized use, Void Staff is often built later in the game or as a secondary option. While the increased Magic Penetration is crucial for maximizing damage against heavily armored opponents, Void Staff lacks the utility that Cryptbloom offers. Cryptbloom provides not only 60 Ability Power and 30 Magic Penetration but also grants 15 Ability Haste and has a unique passive that heals allies on takedowns. This healing nova can significantly impact team fights by providing additional sustain to your team, which can be particularly valuable in extended engagements.

In summary, while Void Staff is indispensable for dealing with high magic resist, its higher cost and lack of utility make it a less frequent choice compared to Cryptbloom, which offers more versatility and support in addition to its damage components. Therefore, Void Staff is typically prioritized when dealing with opponents who heavily invest in magic resistance, but Cryptbloom is often built earlier for its utility and overall effectiveness in a broader range of situations.
Rabadon's Deathcap
Rabadon's Deathcap is a powerhouse item for Mel when you want to maximize her damage output and enhance her burst potential. With 130 Ability Power, it significantly boosts her ability to deal magic damage.

The unique passive increases your Ability Power by 30%, which means all your Ability Power items contribute more to your total damage. This amplification effect makes Rabadon's Deathcap particularly effective as a late-game item or a third major item, providing a substantial boost to your damage and allowing you to execute enemies with even greater efficiency.

Building Rabadon's Deathcap is ideal when you are ahead and looking to maximize your damage output in team fights or when finishing off high-value targets. It synergizes well with other Ability Power items, turning your already high burst damage into a devastating force. It’s especially effective when the enemy team has not heavily invested in magic resistance. In situations where the enemy is building magic resist, consider getting items like Cryptbloom first to ensure you can penetrate their defenses.

Alternatively, if you have already built Cryptbloom and the game is progressing, switching to Rabadon's Deathcap can offer a significant increase in your overall damage output. This item will further amplify your burst potential, making you a more formidable threat in team fights and skirmishes.
Imperial Mandate
Imperial Mandate is a powerful item for Mel, enhancing her utility and teamfighting presence by increasing both her damage and her ability to support her allies. With its unique passive, Imperial Mandate deals additional magic damage to enemies affected by your crowd control abilities, significantly boosting your impact in team fights.

When you hit enemies with abilities like Ethereal Chains or Solar Snare, they become marked by the Imperial Mandate passive, causing them to take bonus magic damage from all nearby allies. This synergy makes Imperial Mandate an excellent choice for Mel, who already has a strong crowd control toolkit. It allows her to contribute not just with her own burst damage, but by amplifying the damage output of her teammates, making her a valuable asset in coordinated fights.

Building Imperial Mandate is ideal when you are focused on enhancing your team's overall damage during skirmishes or objectives, particularly if you're playing in a supportive role. It works well when you need to apply consistent pressure on enemies and control key targets, as your abilities will trigger the passive frequently, especially in prolonged teamfights.

It's particularly effective in situations where your team can capitalize on the crowd control you apply, as the bonus damage amplifies your team's ability to take down high-priority targets quickly. Unlike items like Rabadon's Deathcap, which focus purely on burst damage, Imperial Mandate complements Mel's playstyle by enhancing her support potential and amplifying the overall damage output during sustained engagements.
Bloodletter's Curse
Bloodletter's Curse is a unique and powerful item for Mel, amplifying her ability to shred enemy magic resist and increasing her effectiveness in taking down high-resistance targets. Similar to Black Cleaver, Bloodletter's Curse applies a debuff that reduces the enemy's magic resist, but with a twist: it spreads this effect across multiple enemies when they’re hit by Mel's abilities or basic attacks.

The item stacks up to 6 times, with each stack reducing the target's magic resist by 5%, for a total of 30% reduced magic resist when fully stacked. To reach this full stack, Mel can use her Solar Snare, which applies 4 stacks of the curse, combined with Arcane Comet or Summon Aery which adds another stack, reaching 5 stacks in total. To reach 6 stacks, Mel can land a basic attack, fully applying the debuff.

Alternatively, if Mel uses Radiant Volley followed by a basic attack, she will apply 3 stacks of Bloodletter's Curse. This combo allows her to quickly start shredding magic resist, helping her teammates burst down tanky enemies who would otherwise be difficult to deal with due to their magic resist.

Bloodletter's Curse synergizes perfectly with Mel's playstyle, as she can apply its debuff consistently in teamfights through a combination of her Solar Snare and Radiant Volley, enabling her to weaken enemies and allow her team to deal even more damage. It's an excellent item choice when facing tanky or magic resist-heavy champions, as the increased penetration helps Mel and her team deal with such threats more efficiently.
Seraph's Embrace
Seraph's Embrace is a situational item that can be useful for Mel in specific scenarios, especially when you need to sustain your mana management or gain some additional survivability. This item provides a significant increase in Ability Power and mana sustainability, which helps Mel avoid running out of resources during prolonged fights. Her abilities, like Radiant Volley and Solar Snare, consume a fair amount of mana, so Seraph's Embrace provides consistent mana and a bonus AP, improving her ability to deal damage over time.

Additionally, the item's passive converts mana into a shield when Mel has maximum stacks, offering extra protection during critical moments, especially when she’s in the frontline or being targeted by high-damage enemies. This shield allows Mel to keep casting abilities or try to escape dangerous situations without being easily eliminated. While not an item to build every game, Seraph's Embrace is particularly useful when the game goes long and there's a need for mana sustain or extra resilience against burst damage.

It's also a solid choice if you're ahead and want to maximize your damage, as its Ability Power boost is a great addition to core items like Rabadon's Deathcap, enhancing your ability to deal explosive damage. In summary, Seraph's Embrace is an item that should be built situationally when you need mana sustain, extra survivability through shields, and an increase in magic power to maximize your damage during extended fights.
Banshee's Veil
Banshee's Veil is a valuable situational item for Mel when you need to counter heavy AP (ability power) compositions or deal with high amounts of crowd control. It provides 105 Ability Power and 40 Magic Resistance, boosting both your damage output and survivability against magic damage.

The unique passive of Banshee's Veil grants a spell shield that blocks the next incoming enemy ability, with a cooldown of 30 seconds. This shield can be crucial for protecting Mel from key crowd control effects or critical abilities that could otherwise prevent her from executing her combos or engaging effectively. The cooldown of the shield is reset if you take damage from champions, making it essential to time your engagements and positioning to make the most of the shield.

Building Banshee's Veil is particularly useful in matches where the enemy team has strong AP champions or significant crowd control. It allows Mel to engage more safely, mitigate incoming damage, and avoid being locked down by crucial enemy abilities. This can be especially important when facing champions who can easily burst her down or disrupt her positioning, such as Ahri, Lissandra, or Anivia.
Mejai's Soulstealer
Mejai's Soulstealer is a situational item for Mel that can be highly effective when you're experiencing a strong snowball and are looking to capitalize on your momentum. Priced at 1600 gold, it provides 20 Ability Power and 100 Health, enhancing your survivability and damage output.

The unique passive of Mejai's Soulstealer allows you to gain 4 stacks for each champion kill and 2 stacks for assists, up to a maximum of 25 stacks. If you reach 10 stacks, you gain an additional 5 Ability Power per stack and 10% bonus movement speed. This makes the item particularly valuable for snowballing scenarios where you are consistently securing kills and assists. The increased damage and movement speed from stacking Mejai’s can significantly boost your effectiveness in skirmishes and teamfights.

However, if you die, you lose 10 stacks, which can set back your progress and reduce the item's benefits. Therefore, Mejai's Soulstealer is best used when you’re ahead and can leverage its snowball potential, maximizing your burst damage and mobility. It’s less reliable in games where the risk of dying is high or if you are not able to build up stacks quickly. In those cases, focusing on more consistent power items like Shadowflame or Cryptbloom might be more prudent.

Talking of wave management, Mel wields strategic prowess as a support. With her versatile toolkit, she navigates the delicate balance of controlling minion waves to gain advantages for her team. From orchestrating fast pushes to orchestrating freezes, each technique serves a distinct purpose in her quest to secure lane dominance and pave the path to victory.

1. Fast Push
✦Accelerated lane clearance

When your ADC decides to fast push, your role as Mel is to help them quickly clear the wave and push it towards the enemy tower. This strategy is useful when you want to reset the wave or create pressure on the enemy tower. Use your abilities to clear minions efficiently and provide protection for your ADC during the push.

2. Slow push
✦Gradual lane buildup

Slow pushing involves killing enemy minions at a slower pace, allowing your minion wave to build up over time. As Mel, you can assist your ADC by selectively damaging enemy minions to maintain a slow push. This strategy is effective for building a minion advantage, creating opportunities for turret dives, or setting up for objective control.

3. Freeze
✦Wave Freezing

Freezing the wave involves maintaining an equilibrium near your tower, denying the enemy ADC access to farm safely. As Mel, you can assist in freezing the wave by only last-hitting minions and zoning the enemy bot lane duo away from the minion wave. Freezing is advantageous when your team wants to deny the enemy ADC farm or set up for jungle ganks.

Mel Support is a versatile and strategic champion known for her ability to control the pace of fights with her unique mix of utility, burst damage, and area control. Her playstyle revolves around applying constant pressure with her abilities, providing crowd control, and supporting her team through powerful buffs and utility, while still being a significant damage dealer. Unlike traditional supports who focus primarily on healing or shielding, Mel thrives on disrupting enemies and applying overwhelming pressure to force mistakes.

Mastering Mel involves understanding her intricate kit, which combines area-of-effect damage, crowd control, and the application of Overwhelm stacks to execute enemies. Her abilities require careful positioning and timing, especially when using her crowd control and burst potential to secure kills or turn the tide of a fight in her team's favor.

This chapter will focus on Mel’s playstyle, emphasizing her role in the early game to pressure the lane with her poke and harassment, as well as her ability to support her allies through her utility and defensive tools. In teamfights and objectives, Mel excels at positioning herself to land her crowd control abilities effectively, manage her damage output through Overwhelm stacks, and apply devastating bursts with Golden Eclipse. Understanding these aspects will be essential for maximizing Mel’s potential and leveraging her unique combination of offensive and defensive strengths to control fights, secure objectives, and help lead her team to victory.

ENGAGING & TRADING

In the early game, Mel Support excels at engaging and trading through her combination of utility, burst damage, and crowd control. While she may not have the sustained damage output of traditional ADCs or tank supports, her ability to apply heavy pressure through abilities like Radiant Volley and Solar Snare allows her to create significant advantages in lane. Utilizing her abilities effectively can catch opponents off-guard and disrupt their positioning, enabling her to secure early trades or set up kills for her ADC. Her passive, Searing Brilliance, also provides extra magic damage, making her trades more threatening.

To maximize her effectiveness in lane, Mel should focus on using her Radiant Volley to poke enemies and weaken their health before setting up for a more decisive engagement. Solar Snare provides additional crowd control, immobilizing enemies and making them vulnerable to follow-up damage. Her Rebuttal can be used to reflect incoming damage and provide additional protection, especially when engaging on aggressive enemy champions. Timing and positioning are critical in ensuring that she can use her crowd control abilities efficiently and avoid being caught out of position.

In the laning phase, Mel should focus on applying constant pressure by poking and harassing with Radiant Volley while using Solar Snare to set up for all-ins or secure key trades. Proper positioning is key, as Mel should avoid engaging when the enemy has already used their key crowd control abilities or escapes, maximizing her chances of landing successful combos. Coordinating trades when the enemy is out of position or lacks defensive tools creates opportunities to win lane skirmishes.

Vision control is also essential for Mel, allowing her to safely engage and roam without putting herself at unnecessary risk. Placing wards in enemy jungle entrances and river areas helps track enemy movements and provides opportunities for aggressive plays, especially when combined with Solar Snare and Radiant Volley for fast pickoffs. Proper vision control makes it easier for Mel to safely engage in skirmishes, contribute to team objectives, and prevent potential ambushes from the enemy team.

Roaming is a powerful aspect of Mel's early game strategy. With her Solar Snare providing powerful crowd control and Radiant Volley offering poke and burst damage, she can quickly transition to other lanes to help secure objectives or assist in ganks. Timing these roams effectively and ensuring that she doesn't overcommit to trades will allow Mel to impact other lanes and help snowball her team to victory.

As Mel transitions into the mid-game, her utility and burst potential shine in teamfights. By managing her Searing Brilliance stacks and utilizing Golden Eclipse effectively, Mel can contribute both through crowd control and burst damage. Maintaining strong vision control and roaming to secure objectives is key to maximizing her impact on the game. Her ability to peel for teammates, apply burst damage, and secure kills with Solar Snare makes her an excellent team player, capable of influencing the flow of the game and securing key advantages.

TEAMFIGHTING & OBJECTIVES

In teamfights, Mel Support excels through her ability to apply consistent damage, control key targets, and protect her team with utility. Her primary role is to disrupt enemy formations and create opportunities for her team by using her crowd control and burst damage. Radiant Volley allows Mel to poke and deal damage to multiple enemies at once, while Solar Snare can lock down high-priority targets or peel for her carries. Her ultimate, Golden Eclipse, can provide significant burst damage, particularly when enemies are affected by Searing Brilliance, amplifying her overall impact in the fight.

Effective teamfighting with Mel involves maintaining good positioning, using her Rebuttal to reflect incoming damage and mitigate threats to herself or her team. Engaging with Mel should typically involve waiting for the enemy to overcommit or misposition, allowing her to land key crowd control abilities like Solar Snare and follow up with Radiant Volley for burst damage. Golden Eclipse should be activated when enemies are affected by Searing Brilliance to maximize its damage output, allowing Mel to help execute weakened targets or disrupt the enemy team's frontlines. Timing her abilities to catch opponents who are out of position or distracted will give her team a window to capitalize on her effectiveness.

Since Mel is not as mobile as some other supports, positioning is crucial during teamfights. She should look for opportunities to engage from the backline or after her team has initiated, preventing her from being the primary target. Mel’s Rebuttal provides a form of protection, but engaging too aggressively without proper support or positioning can leave her vulnerable. Using her mobility through Solar Snare to reposition is essential to avoid being caught out of position or targeted by the enemy.

When it comes to objectives, Mel’s role is to help secure map control and assist her team in taking key objectives like Dragon, Baron, Atakhan and turrets. Her ability to provide crowd control through Solar Snare and damage with Radiant Volley makes her a solid presence in these fights, while Golden Eclipse allows her to deliver substantial burst damage to enemy champions affected by Searing Brilliance. Vision control is crucial for Mel, as placing wards in strategic areas can help track enemy movements and prevent surprise engages or ambushes during key objectives.

During objective fights, prioritize using Solar Snare to lock down key enemy carries or champions who pose the biggest threat, followed by Radiant Volley for burst damage. Golden Eclipse should be activated when enemies are affected by Searing Brilliance to secure significant damage and potentially eliminate squishy targets. It’s important to coordinate with your team to engage at the right moment, ensuring that Mel can contribute her burst damage without overextending and leaving herself vulnerable. The combination of sustained damage, utility, and burst makes Mel a powerful force in objectives and skirmishes.

As the game progresses into the mid and late game, Mel’s impact on teamfights and objectives becomes even more pronounced. Her ability to control the battlefield, peel for allies, and disrupt enemy strategies through crowd control and burst damage helps her team secure key objectives and win crucial teamfights. Maintaining vision control, setting up successful engagements, and positioning effectively can lead to victory, with Mel playing a key role in ensuring her team’s success in both teamfights and objectives.

As a playmaker support, Mel stands as a beacon of strategic influence on the Summoner's Rift. With her ability to initiate and dictate the flow of team engagements, she transcends the traditional role of a support, becoming a pivotal figure in orchestrating macro-level plays. Whether it's leading the charge in coordinated jungle invasions, facilitating mid lane ganks with her crowd control prowess, or spearheading objective control with her disruptive presence, Mel embodies the essence of a playmaker support. In the hands of a skilled player, her strategic acumen and decisive actions can tilt the scales of battle in favor of her team, securing victories through calculated macro plays and unparalleled map control.
Mid lane ganks
As Mel, coordinating ganks on the mid lane can be highly effective, especially when accompanied by your jungler. Utilize your crowd control abilities to initiate and lock down enemy mid laners, creating opportunities for kills or summoner spell burns. Communicate with your mid laner and jungler to ensure successful ganks and capitalize on overextended opponents.
Jungle Invasions
Invading the enemy jungle alongside your jungler is a proactive way to establish vision control, deny resources, and apply pressure across the map. With your tankiness and crowd control, Mel can assist in securing kills or forcing enemy junglers out of their territory. Coordinate with your team to invade when you have lane priority and ensure proper vision coverage to avoid potential counterattacks.
Objective Control
Supporting your team in securing objectives like dragon is crucial for maintaining map control and securing victory. Use your crowd control to zone enemies away from contested areas, providing opportunities for your team to secure objectives safely. Additionally, coordinate with your team to set up vision around key objectives and rotate accordingly to contest or secure them when they spawn.
Map Awareness and Rotation
As a support, maintaining map awareness is paramount. Keep track of enemy movements, objectives timers, and potential gank opportunities to make informed decisions. Rotate efficiently between lanes and objectives to provide assistance where needed, whether it's protecting your ADC during sieges or roaming to assist other lanes in securing kills or objectives.
Deep Jungle Wards
Placing deep wards in the enemy jungle can lead to successful picks and rotations. These wards grant your team insights into the enemy jungler's position and roaming patterns. Knowing where the enemy jungler is allows your laners to play more aggressively when the jungler is far away or set up plays when they spot the enemy jungler on the opposite side of the map. Additionally, deep wards in the enemy jungle enable your team to spot enemy rotations, leading to more informed decisions and strategic movements across the map.
Baron Control
Having vision around the Baron pit is paramount when it comes to securing this game-changing objective. By placing wards in key areas like the river, enemy jungle entrances, and the Baron pit itself, your team gains essential information about the enemy team's movements. Vision around Baron allows your team to detect enemy attempts at sneaking the Baron, providing an opportunity for a decisive contest or potential pick on unsuspecting opponents. Additionally, vision around Baron can serve as a baiting tool, enticing the enemy into unfavorable fights and creating opportunities for your team to gain the upper hand.
Atakhan Control
Vision around Atakhan is key to map control and denying the enemy important buffs. There are two forms of Atakhan:

Ruinous Form (the Black): Slaying Atakhan in this form grants the Crown of Carnage buff, which provides a 25% increase in the effects of all active epic monster buffs (excluding Crown of Carnage itself), as well as Bloody Petals to enhance map pressure. It also spawns additional Blood Roses. Controlling or denying this form significantly boosts your team's power in teamfights and objective control, while preventing the enemy from gaining these advantages disrupts their strategy.

Voracious Form (the Red): Slaying Atakhan in this form grants the False Life (GOLD) buff, providing bonus gold for champion takedowns, as well as a temporary False Life buff for 150 seconds. Upon taking lethal damage, you briefly enter a resurrection state for 5.5 seconds, during which you are invulnerable and untargetable, then blink back to your summoning platform. If the enemy kills you, they instead gain 1 stack of Bloody Petals and 200 gold. Denying this form prevents the enemy from gaining sustain, gold, and potential resurrection, severely limiting their map presence and ability to contest objectives.

Both forms grant powerful buffs to your team. Denying them to the enemy, however, can hinder their ability to fight, control objectives, and maintain map pressure.
Elder Dragon Control
Vision around the Elder Dragon is crucial for securing one of the most powerful buffs in the game. The Elder Dragon provides a game-changing advantage that can swing teamfights and determine the outcome of objectives. Denying the Elder Dragon to the enemy team can be just as impactful as securing it for your own team.

When your team slays the Elder Dragon, it grants the Dragon's Fury buff. This buff enhances all of your champion’s damage, dealing additional burn damage to enemies based on their missing health. This burn damage is incredibly powerful, especially in the late game, where it can quickly melt down enemy champions and secure the win in teamfights. The Dragon's Fury buff lasts for a significant duration, and it gives your team a strong advantage when contesting other objectives like Baron or turrets.

On the other hand, denying the enemy the Elder Dragon stops them from gaining this powerful buff and can severely weaken their presence in late-game fights. If the enemy secures the Elder Dragon, they gain significant damage potential and can outlast your team in crucial fights. Vision control around the Elder Dragon pit is essential, as it provides crucial information about enemy rotations and attempts to secure the dragon. A well-timed steal or denial of this buff can delay the enemy's push and drastically change the momentum of the game.
