Amumu You can outplay everyone else, but don't risk 1v1ing them. Try to get some help from your team, but Olaf and Nocturne will just destroy you.

Introduction

Hello everyone, I'm ak521! I've been a jg main for most of my time playing League. When I started playing, I went support, and now I'm trying out AD-carry.
I chose to make a guide on amumu because he is one really fun champion I came across when jungling. This is my first guide so please leave comments and help me improve!

Pros / Cons

PROS

    Fun (in my opinion)
    Great tank
    Great engage tool, useful for stunning ADC
    Great ulti, and that I mean just engage and ulti you win the fight
CONS
    In my opinion at least, a HORRIBLE early game, can't fight at all early game
    Can't 1v1
    Heavily Mana dependent

Runes

Aftershock requires the enemy to be in too small of a range for you. If you're okay with that, go ahead and take it. [Aftershock + Bone Plating + Conditioning + Overgrowth, Manaflow Band + Waterwalking]. Some may prefer it, but I personally don't. Some even go inspiration as secondary; definitely take approach velocity if you are! In the sorcery column, I took resolve 'cuz of tank.

Take Aery because it gives you some damage when you engage. You may ask- why do you need damage? So you don't just do **** when the 10 hp yi comes up to you and so you don't die to him.
Take Manaflow Band because it is mana and building mana is really expensive and counterproductive in most cases. Always.
As of 8.12, take Transcendence instead of Celerity. This was chosen by process of elimination. Transcendence gives you CDR, which may be useful and can help with your guaranteed E strike while your W slows them after you get Rylai's. Celerity is no longer as good as it used to be before for amumu, he doesn't have enough movement speed. Celerity's base MS was nerfed and when you have more MS was buffed. Unless you're going to take approach velocity (inspiration as secondary), don't take celerity. On the other hand, you could use absolute focus but you're going to be tanking.
In my opinion, Waterwalking is good and so is scorch. Water Walking gives you that MS in the river and help taking down rift. Scorch is some extra damage, but all in all, you don't need it. Gathering Storm is not needed since you don't need to get the AP for late game.
Take Bone Plating because you're going to tank a lot of damage when you engage. This is a MUST. Take Conditioning because it's help to become tank-ier. And tank-ier means when you stand in the middle of the entire enemy team when you engage and ulti.

Jungling

Start blue. You need the mana, you don't need the health with your potions. You can actually skip gromp.

Here's how I do it.

Blue;
Wolves;
Krogs;
Red;
Rift Bot;
Gank mid (to burn their flash at least);
Rift Top;
Gank top OR go to Gromp

You SHOULD NOT INVADE AT ALL. Keep your camps warded as much as possible and the river brush would be a good place to place a control ward

Team Work

Your team fights often occur mid. So, I recommend going around in the jungle to get clear for your Q on their ADC. Now this is why you need damage on Amumu. You need to get the ADC low, and your W will secure that kill. With the help of your assassin, they should be able to dash at their ADC with ease after you cast your ultimate.
So here's the abilities summary for team fights;

Q : Engage [Cast First]
W : Kill Secure [After Rylai's, Cast Immediately after Ultiamte]
E : Damage [Cast Second]
R : Assassin Clear [Cast Third]

You're going to cast all your abilities after Q, make sure that you know when to cast your R. Sometimes you might want to delay it so you can get as many people as possible but often everyone is crowded around the ADC.
