Threat Champion Notes
1
Amumu You can outplay everyone else, but don't risk 1v1ing them. Try to get some help from your team, but Nocturne will just destroy you. NOTE: WIP matchups, adding more!
1
Ivern Weak JG, you'll be able to 1v1 him as long as he doesn't get support from their team. Have a backup ready just in case. He's like another amumu.
1
Master Yi hahahah easy as hell matchup. He's dead with your cc. but don't 1v1, never 1v1. You /could/ get away but I wouldn't take the risk. He'll be useless in team fights.

Introduction

Hello everyone, I'm ak521! I started playing league since season 6 and since then I have loved to play jungler. When I initially started playing, I went support, and now I'm trying out AD-carry.
I chose to make a guide on amumu because he is one really fun champion I came across when jungling. This is my first guide so please leave some feedback and help me improve!

NOTE TO READERS: Sorry about the hard-to-read text! I will be fixing this soon with the icons etc.

Pros / Cons

PROS

    Fun (in my opinion)
    Great tank
    Great engage tool, useful for stunning ADC
    Great ulti, and that I mean just engage and ulti you win the fight
CONS
    In my opinion at least, a HORRIBLE early game, can't fight at all early game
    Can't 1v1
    Heavily Mana dependent

Runes

Runes Option 1

This is my honestly preferred build. It gives you damage, mana, and tank; your three essentials.
Take Aery because it gives you some damage when you engage. You may ask- why do you need damage? So you don't just do **** when the 10 hp yi comes up to you and so you don't die to him.
Take Manaflow Band because it is mana and building mana is really expensive and counterproductive in most cases. Always.
As of 8.12, take Transcendence instead of Celerity. This was chosen by process of elimination. Transcendence gives you CDR, which may be useful and can help with your guaranteed E strike while your W slows them after you get Rylai's. Celerity is no longer as good as it used to be before for amumu, he doesn't have enough movement speed. Celerity's base MS was nerfed and when you have more MS was buffed. Unless you're going to take approach velocity (inspiration as secondary), don't take celerity. On the other hand, you could use absolute focus but you're going to be tanking.
In my opinion, Waterwalking is good, and scorch could be as well. Water Walking gives you that MS in the river and help taking down rift. Scorch is some extra damage, but all in all, you don't need it. Gathering Storm is not needed since you don't need to get the AP for late game.
Take Bone Plating because you're going to tank a lot of damage when you engage. This is a MUST.
Take Conditioning because it's help to become tank-ier. And tank-ier means when you stand in the middle of the entire enemy team when you engage and ulti.

Runes Option 2

I personally don't like aftershock. You don't need this random burst of damage, I feel, and it requires the enemy to be in such a close range. However if you like it- go ahead and take it! This is my recommended Aftershock rune build.
Take Aftershock for the extra damage when you engage in on a team fight. Your W with Rylai's will help you achieve this.
Take Bone Plating because you're going to tank a lot of damage when you engage. This is a MUST.
Take Conditioning because it's help to become tank-ier. And tank-ier means when you stand in the middle of the entire enemy team when you engage and ulti.
Take Unflinching because similar to what I said for Conditioning- when you engage, you're likely to be hella focused. Unflinching will help carry out your engage and help you with your escape.
Take Approach Velocity- HOLY **** THIS IS OP AS HELL ON AMUMU. You pretty much have an unlimited slow on your W and it becomes even easier for you to keep enemies in your W range. GG.
Take Biscuit Delivery to help you sustain in jungle. OMG it also gives you mana!

Runes Option 3

This is my third option. You should only take this if you're going to go full damage, even though I don't recommend that. Personally, don't try this in ranked.
Take Aery because it gives you some damage when you engage. You may ask- why do you need damage? So you don't just do **** when the 10 hp yi comes up to you and so you don't die to him.
Take Nimbus Cloak for you to help escape once you cast your ultimate. Otherwise, with the amount of true damage here right now, you'll get torn apart in seconds! A great alternative for this is always manaflow band. Building mana is expensive and can be counterproductive, so manaflow band is nice. Nimbus Cloak, however, synergies with Celerity (see next) and hence it is Nimbus Cloak here.
Take Celerity because this is a more of a damage build. As of 8.12, celerty's movement speed was nerfed and in exchange it got more damage. So why not take this? Your other runes, such as Nimbus Cloak (see above), Waterwalking (see below), and Approach Velocity (see below) will give you the MS you need. An alternative for this would be Transcendence.
In my opinion, Waterwalking is good, and scorch could be as well. Water Walking gives you that MS in the river and help taking down rift. Scorch is some extra damage, but all in all, you don't need it. Waterwalking synergies with your damage for Celerity, so go on and take Waterwalking
Take Approach Velocity- HOLY **** THIS IS OP AS HELL ON AMUMU. You pretty much have an unlimited slow on your W and it becomes even easier for you to keep enemies in your W range. GG. + synergy with celerity.
Take Biscuit Delivery to help you sustain in jungle. OMG it also gives you mana!

Jungling

Start blue. You need the mana, you don't need the health with your potions. You can actually skip gromp.

Here's how I do it.

Blue;
Wolves;
Krogs;
Red;
Rift Bot;
Gank mid (to burn their flash at least);
Rift Top;
Gank top OR go to Gromp

You SHOULD NOT INVADE AT ALL. Keep your camps warded as much as possible and the river brush would be a good place to place a control ward

Team Work

Your team fights often occur mid. So, I recommend going around in the jungle to get clear for your Q on their ADC. Now this is why you need damage on Amumu. You need to get the ADC low, and your W will secure that kill. With the help of your assassin, they should be able to dash at their ADC with ease after you cast your ultimate.
So here's the abilities summary for team fights;

Q : Engage [Cast First]
W : Kill Secure [After Rylai's, Cast Immediately after Ultiamte]
E : Damage [Cast Second]
R : Assassin Clear [Cast Third]

You're going to cast all your abilities after Q, make sure that you know when to cast your R. Sometimes you might want to delay it so you can get as many people as possible but often everyone is crowded around the ADC.
