Threats & Synergies
This champion personifies everything I hate about this game: massive damage, massive healing, non-existent cooldowns, ability to chase you or run away from you with his dashes, he doesn't care about mana. You still can outplay his Qs and W with your E and you outscale him once you get lvl13 and healing reduction but prepare for painful laning phase.
I have no idea why Riot Games buff this champion when they 100% should nerf her. She is stronger than you at any stage of the game. Ban her or Jax.
His E counters your W, which is your main ability, try to use your E to cancel his stun. This matchup has become even harder since BoTRK was buffed for melees. Ban him or Fiora.
Chases you with Qs, chunks with E, heals a lot with W, hardcounters your R with his R. Do your best to survive early game, don't let him get fed and you will be fine after lvl13.
Right now she is a pretty rare pick for toplane and this is very good for you, because despite of multiple nerfs and changes she is still overpowered.
Very annoying to deal with. Her passive shield will make you lose trades in early game, her Q deals a good chunk of true damage, her W is hard to dodge, she can also use her R to dodge your R. You should win after lvl9 if you hit all your abilities.
Still not nerfed for some reason. Insane damage, 0 counterplay, outscales you, runs faster than you despite of not being able to buy boots. Adaptive helm will help you a little bit.
His sustain makes it hard to kill him. If he goes Grasp, it becomes a little bit easier, if he goes Glacial Augment, it will be painful. Do your best to dodge his Qs and be careful about his lvl6 burst.
In early game he wins by default even if you do everything correctly. The best thing you can do is Eing his E. Try not to give him free Q healing and damage. Be cautiuos if he has Ghost, he will just run you down if you don't respect this. You can kill him lvl6 if he does something stupid. After lvl9 (or lvl13 if he is ahead) you outscale him.
Annoying point-and-click poke, cancels your R with his W (this is kinda bullshit, imagine powerful ultimate being cancelled by a basic ability).
Do your best to dodge his Qs and try not to let him proc bonus damage from his W. He is hard to catch because of his jump but if you catch him he will be in trouble. When he is in Mega form, use your E to outplay his W or R.
Early game is in his favor, Hecarim players usually take ignite, so don't trade with him in early game. Be patient, wait for your powerspikes and melt him with W and Black cleaver.
Very hard to do anything in this lane. Farm as best as you can, get some lifesteal and Adaptive helm.
The only reason I don't ban Illaoi is her low pickrate. When I play against her I find myself to be extremely miserable. It is very easy for her to hit her E due to your huge hitbox. I believe her tentacles are bugged: they hit you if you are outside of the indicated zone, they hit you if you stand on the opposite side, they hit you if you destroy them but for some reason Riot Games don't care about this shit.
Survive early game, don't let him get fed and he will be useless.
Very annoying champion, you can't do much even before she gets lvl6 unless she is really stupid, because she has everything to stay away from you: slow, heal and speedboost. Don't waste your R on her R: wait a little bit and press your R second time to make sure her R runs out.
Actually AP-version of Gnar: annoying and hard to catch but easy to punish if you catch him.
This guy is pretty scary, save your E to get away from his Q pull, watch out his W. Be careful and outscale him.
You don't actually have any kill pressure on her but she also should not be able to kill you. Try not to be poked too hard.
Very annoying passive. In my opinion Maokai is actually the only tank who can win against Urgot: each shotgun will reduce his passive cooldown and even healing reduction will not help you. If he builds Thornmail or at least Bramble vest he will most likely win 1v1. Sounds weird but trust me.
Try to abuse your lvl1 E and lvl2 E+W: this is actually the only moment in the game when you are stronger than him. Smart Mordekaiser will get Tabis, Hourglass and Thornmail against you and in this case you will lose to him.
Her knockback, blind and insane damage will give you a hard time. You can't follow her roams, so push and make her lose farm.
Watch out his rage bar, don't forget that his empowered W destroys your E shield. Build Tabis and Bramble vest. If you don't feed Renekton in early game, he will not be that scary.
This matchup completely depends on Riven. If she is good it might be even worse than Fiora or Jax, if she is bad just kill her over and over until she ragequits.
Insanely annoying champion. Even if he has 9 AP he deals insane damage to you.
Annoying little hamster, no comments.
His pillar stops your E, his W and R make him really strong. Wait for your powerspikes and outscale him.
Braindead champion, very frustrating to play against. He can cheese you lvl2 with ignite. Use your R to kite him when he uses his R: in this case the slow will be really strong because it depends on target's missing health. I've noticed several times that Urgot's R is sometimes buggy in this matchup: it instantly and automatically recasts second time for no reason. But if you are lucky and this doesn't happen, remember timings: his R duration is 5 seconds, you have 4 seconds between 1st and 2nd casts and 1,5 seconds to drag him into the grinder. Use it properly to execute him.
She counters you pretty hard but if you catch her and hit all your abilities, you will most likely kill her.
Get Executioner's calling and try to bait his W, than try to engage on him. Stay away from him when his empowered Q is ready.
I find him extremely frustrating to play against. He deals massive damage, has insane healing and can easily towerdive you lvl6
His W is very painful to deal with: if you waste E and/or R on his clone you are screwed. Remember that his lvl1 is insanely strong with jump, damage and AS bonus.
This one can be tricky. Gragas has good damage and CC, his sustain is also nice. Try to react to his E with your E: use it on him if you want to trade or away if you don't feel confident. Be careful about his R, it can throw you under his tower and you will be in trouble.
Usually Irelia players are very cocky, let her push you and try to flip her under your tower when she uses her E. Respect her passive (it is stronger than Darius's passive, trust me). Don't feed her early game or you will never recover.
Try to get lead before he stacks too much armor because once he gets Thornmail you will not be able to kill him without your jungler's help. If he is going AP, this is better for you: he can't kill you in one rotation of his spells and you kill him after because he is squishy. Good thing is that his E is useless against you, because you don't care about attack speed.
Do your best to deny him and you will be fine. Be careful after lvl6 if he has Sheen.
Use your E AFTER he finishes his W and is about to proc brittle with an auto: he will knock you back but you will still flip him.
Very tanky and hard to kill because of her spammable shield. She deals surprisingly high amount of damage for a tank. Stay away from walls and use your E to outplay her E or R. Don't waste your E in her W.
AP-version of Poppy: just presses one button over and over on cooldown. Be patient and outscale him. Get Adaptive helm if he gives you a hard time.
Don't trade with him early game, if he hits you with his E, disengage with your E. Do your best to dodge his W true damage zone, it hurts.
His passive shields are very annoyng, his W blocks your W. You should be fine after lvl6, because his R is useless in 1v1. If he teleports across the map feel free to take turret plates and make him lose a lot of farm.
Try to kill him before he gets too tanky, don't take free Qs, remember that his R makes him unstoppable.
Get magic resist and healing reduction, because Sylas players usually max W. Be careful if he steals your R, it might be too tough to handle.
If he is good it might be tricky. His mobility makes him hard to catch and his windwall blocks everything you have except your E. Get Randuin's omen if you are behind.
Yasuo version№2, better burst and disengage but worse mobility and defense.
Your W kills his ghouls really fast but if he traps you inside of his W you might be in trouble, because his W is the last priority target for your W and you can't E away from his W once you are inside of it.
Get Executioner's calling and melt him with your W and shotguns.
Every time he wants to trade just E on him and press W before he silences you. Q him and/or auto him to turn his passive off. Frozen mallet works perfectly in this matchup. Be careful lvl6 if he has Ignite.
If his E is on cooldown you should win trades. Go ham on him lvl1 with your E. You win superhard after lvl6.
A lot of people think Rammus is Urgot's counterpick but I don't think so. Turn your W off when he is about to E you and you will be fine. Wit's end and Adaptive helm are very good options against him.
Watch out his lvl2 and lvl6 powerspikes and you will be completely fine.
Don't take free poke from his Qs, bait his W shadow and feel free to go ham oh him.
I don't even remember the last time I saw Galio top but if it occurs you will destroy him.
He can't do anything to you.
I really like playing with Anivia, her slows, stuns and wall can help you a lot if she knows how to use all this stuff.
His passive + your minigun = instant stun.
Malzahar locks people down with his R which makes it easy to land all your abilities.
Her E saves you from CC which is very important.
Yuumi makes you superfast, helps you to chase people, heals you a lot and roots everyone in front of you.
This guy gives you a very good speed boost and a second life.
Works only if Gragas is good.
Works only if Lee Sin is good.
It's OK but his R might screw your E, so watch out.
Pyke is very fast and has good CC, so he helps you a lot to catch people but your ultimates have a conflict! You need a successful execution to fear everyone, he needs a successful execution to reset his R and give you bonus gold.
I'm really unlucky with Bard players in my team, usually this guy screws me really hard.
I've witnessed a lot of situations where his E saved enemies from my E or R.
Champion Build Guide
I'm looking forward to share my experience with this champion. Also I'll probably make guides for Garen and Mordekaiser.
+ Good damage output, very nice DPS with maxed W Purge
+ Good amount of CC
+ Good in killing both squishy and tanky champions
+ E Disdain allows you to negate CC if you use it properly
+ Your build and skillset makes you pretty hard to kill
|You are strong and fat bruiser who is good both in 1v1s and teamfights.|
- You are pretty slow
- Your E doesn't allow you to pass through terrain
- Your range is not that great (except R Fear Beyond Death)
- 3 of your abilities are skillshots which are not that easy to land
- Large cooldowns and manacosts in early game
|If you waste your E Disdain and miss your abilities in general, you will be kited pretty hard.|
Very strong passive, 6 shotguns on 6 legs, each one deals additional physical damage flat+%max health to every enemy unit in a cone, scales well into late game. Shotguns are triggered by autoattacks or W Purge. Cooldown is 30 sec per leg early game but it goes down later: 20 sec lvl6, 10 sec lvl9, 5 sec lvl11 and 2.5 sec lvl13. So lvl13 is your biggest powerspike for 2 reasons: 1) Minimum passive cooldown per leg; 2) Second ability is getting maxed.
Missile. Explodes after a short delay, deals physical damage and slows everyone in a small radius for 1.25 sec. Manacost is 80 at all ranks, so use it wisely. Usually you max this ability second but it makes sense to max it first when you play against Gnar/Jayce/Kennen/Teemo
Your bread and butter ability. For 4 seconds you slow yourself but get additional slow resistance and ability to pass through units (which is really important because Urgot's hitbox is huge and you are getting blocked by minions very often). You can't use AA but automatically shoot at the nearest target 3 times per second, locking onto enemy champions you've recently hit with other abilities. It works against turrets and wards. This ability helps you to instantly stack Black Cleaver and proc Press the Attack. At max rank this ability becomes infinite with 0 manacost but sometimes you should switch it off because you can accidently proc blast cones, scryer's blooms and honey fruits whrn not necessary. Each shot is a pseudo AA, which procs onhits for 50% of it's value but for some reason you get the full damage from Bramble Vest and Defensive Ball Curl. Bramble Vest is a very good counter to Urgot, I recommend to build it every time you play against him. Don't forget that W Purge range is slightly bigger than your AA range.
Very powerful ability if used properly. Gives you jump (can't pass through terrain), damage, shield, flips your enemy and stuns him. If you time it perfectly, you can get rid of CC like Rocket Grab, Apprehend, Counter Strike, Facebreaker, etc. Doesn't help against suppressions.
One of the strongest abilities in the game. On first cast you throw a long-range drill, which deals damage and slows the target based on its missing health. If the victim's health drops below 25% of max health you can cast it second time. Second cast throws chains on the victim (making it untargetable) and pulls it into the grinder (second cast takes 1.5 sec). Maximum time between fisrt and second casts is 4 sec (second cast will go automatically after 4 seconds if victim is below 25% max health). Upon successful execution you fear everybody around for 1.5 sec, which is devastating in teamfights. Execution is not stopped by shields but it can be cancelled or blocked by certain items and abilities: Quicksilver Sash, Zhonya's Hourglass, Ragnarok, Unbreakable Will, Remove Scurvy, Battle Roar, Riposte, Wind Wall, Alpha Strike, Hallucinate, Sanguine Pool, Playful / Trickster, Unstoppable Onslaught, Assault and Battery. I was really surprised to discover that Unstoppable Force and Bellows Breath don't save Malphite and Ornn from being executed.
I prefer to max Corrosive Charge second because in my opinion rank 1 of Disdain gives you everything you need from this ability.
Keystone. Press the attack
You can stack it instantly with your W Purge.
Tier 2. Triumph
Helps you to survive and gives you some extra money.
Tier 3. Legend: Tenacity
The only viable option here: you don't need attack speed or lifesteal that much.
Tier 4. Coup de grace
Helps you to bring people to that 25% Fear Beyond Death threshold. Last Stand is also good. It doesn't really matter which one you take, they both feel pretty equal.
Secondary 1. Demolish
A lot of people would take Shield Bash here but I believe Demolish is the best choice as long as turret plates exist.
Secondary 2. Second wind
Very good against poke but feel free to swap it with Bone Plating if you find it necessary.
In stats we take double adaptive force because we don't need attack speed on Urgot + armor or magic resist depending on matchup.
Conqueror - I don't recommend to take it anymore.
Grasp of the Undying - I've seen it several times but it's not worth.
Phase Rush - might be viable actually.
Unsealed Spellbook - only if you are 100% sure about what you are doing!
Manaflow Band plus Transcendence - good secondary options if you want to max Q Corrosive Charge first.
Taste of Blood plus Ultimate Hunter - also decent option for secondary tree.
Mandatory. Disdain+ Flash combo is very powerful and will secure a lot of kills.
If you fall behind this is your only way to stay in the game. You can also use it to make some plays on the map.
It might be good to compensate self-slow on your W Purge but in this case you should replace either Flash or Teleport. I find them both mandatory but you can try it if you want.
It's overkill, you don't need it.
Here I'll try to speak about general items.
The Black Cleaver
Your main item. It gives you health, attack damage, 20% CDR, armor reduction and some movespeed when you do damage. Your W Purge helps you to stack it very fast.
Your second most important item, feel free to build it every game. It gives you damage, resistances of both types, sustain and bleed effect which is actually equal to damage reduction. You don't get the full value of the bleed effect because Urgot is ranged but this is still a really strong item.
Active effect is a very powerful engaging tool: you slow the enemy which ensures you hit your E Disdain. Stats are also fine.
Blade of the Ruined King
Each W shot will do 4% current health additional physical damage onhit. Might be a good option against people who stack a lot of health ( Sion, Cho'Gath).
Maw of Malmortius
Usually I don't recommend to build this item, do it only against full AP team comps.
Very good against melees with low mobility ( Garen, Darius).
Good option if you are fed and don't want to give your enemies that juicy shutdown.
Edge of Night
Spellshield works really well against poke team comps ( Nidalee, Varus).
You can build it first item if you are stomping your lane opponent.
Good against Aatrox, Dr. Mundo, Maokai and Vladimir.
Build it against multiple champions who stack armor ( Malphite, Rammus), you will be surprised how good it is.
It takes eternity to stack Tear of the Goddess on Urgot but Manamune is getting stacked really fast with your W Purge, so if you decide do build this I recommend to start with Pickaxe. Once you get fully stacked Muramana you become insanely strong.
Build this if you are the only tanky champion in your team. It will help you to survive in teamfights and it WILL NOT reduce your R Fear Beyond Death damage.
Build it if you are getting smashed by crits.
Build it against Darius, Fiora, Jax, Tryndamere and anybody who builds Blade of the Ruined King.
Helps a lot against Cassiopeia, Heimerdinger, Rumble and Teemo.
This is your general magic resist item. Good synergy with any healing.
Good synergy with Spirit Visage and Gargoyle Stoneplate. Build it if you have no tanks in your team.
Built it against full AD team comps and they will desperately cry trying to kill you.
Take it against AA-based champions.
Take it against CC.
Boots of Swiftness
Might be a good option in some rare cases.
You can buy Quicksilver Sash if you have trouble against Malzahar, Mordekaiser, Skarner or Warwick.
