What's New!
Ladies and Gentlemen!
I proudly present to you this guide about Sivir which has achieved top rated ideal champion guide on MobaFire as of date February 1st 2012 around 6pm GMT+1 timezone. I thank everyone that has contributed to this champion's reborn image! Never thought from the gutter people think she came from, that one day I would come home from work, log on to MobaFire and see my guide to be above all the others. This moment means a lot to me!! To Sivir and to the whole community that benefits from all the patience and efforts people put in to help me create the guide as it is today.
Thank you so much!!

GETTHERAX
'READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!', the boy shouts on the corner of the street.
And why?, we wonder...
Here is why! Sivir got herself a spot on a article written by Stevo's in his top 20 LOL guides! The link to his website with a lot of LOL news and other articles.
Stevo's GETTHERAX Website
Big credits to him!!
LIVE STREAM!!
For those who requested me to watch me play, I have set up a Live stream on own3d.tv.
For now I will post it in this section of the guide, but will move on to the match recording chapter soon. Since this is the first chapter, everyone will see it sooner.
Link to my live stream is Meridianprime channel Follow me up under Meridianprime. Stream times will be around 6pm (GMT+1) till midnight (GMT+1) timezone.
REQUESTS
I like to ask you all to help me get this Sivir guide to maintain the best for the community to use.
For that I like to alternate the chapter : Sivir vs Champ X, in how you like to have it formatted, what information you like to have me put in here. It has to be short and to the point.
Please send in your idea's and information to my Inbox.
Based on the reactions I will redo this chapter and put your name down in Credits :)
Thank you!

I'm Meridianprime, level 30 and playing on the EU servers. After playing a few introduction matches as Here I am, making this guide for other players that like to try out and learn more about So... what have I done to create this guide?
|
Please feel free to express your thoughts, relevant information, constructive criticism and other points of improvements in the comment section FAAAAAARRRR below. I hope you enjoy reading all this as it was for me to write. Thank you for your time!
This guide is about... (READ ME!!!)
As stated in the previous chapter, the comment section is FAAAAARRRR below and with that I meant to say this guide is LONG!! So before you read all of this, it's always handy to tell people what to expect from a guide before reading everything. Here I summarize the highlights.
What to expect
- A very in-depth guide about how to play
Sivir and explaining her role as PUSHER / Carry - A large variety of builds, recommended setups to suit your play style and situational items
- A full list of her
Spell Shield. What spells CAN be blocked and their difficulty / priorities - Chronological explanatory how to get your Core Build with many alternatives based on the flow of the match
- Print screens and recorded games as proof of viability
What you won’t get
- Another "Yay I'm Sivir, she is hot so I'll just let you know" guide
- A cooking recipe
- If I’m missing any viable information vital to her gameplay, please tell me so I can add it
Pros / Cons
Now that you know something about me and the guide in general. Lets view in on the champion Sivir itself. What is her power and her weakness.
Some champions are good in taking damage (
Amumu,
Alistar,
Rammus), others can jungle better (
Warwick,
Shaco) or excel in ganking (
Nocturne). Some can support another by healing (
Taric), shielding (
Kayle), buffing (
Sona) or stunning the opponents like (
Leona).
The ability to auto attack 6 targets, shield a hostile ability, enhancing every allied unit nearby.
Sivir can PUSH like no other. All those goodies have their downfall...
Avoid her CONS and exploit her PROS and you shall have joy playing her.

The tiny pieces of a puzzle that makes a difference. As an AD carry,
Sivir runs good on the following 21/9/0 set up.
+ Giving her the extra defense and HP for when she faces other AD carries.

S |
+3 AD : You are an AD carry, every AD is very much wanted to fulfill your role. |
|
|
S |
+4% AS : More attack speed means better use of Sivir's passive, plus it speeds up her attack animation. |
|
|
S |
+12 AD at level 18 : More AD each level, good to increase that dmg per hit before any mayor items are purchased. |
|
|
S |
+8% ArPen : Her attacks ignores 10% of the enemies armor, thus more damage per hit. Specially when things gets tanky. |
|
|
S |
+5% CrD : Not that you going to crit that often, but those critical hits will damage 5% more. For harassing hits will sometimes be painful and force them to go back to base. |
|
|
S |
Attack speed on crit is very nice, specially mid / late game. |
|
|
S |
On rank 3 its 2% more dmg. Every bit helps. |
|
|
S |
+6 ArPen : Ignoring armor and deal more damage. Works well early on when armor isn't a big role yet. This also means minions dying faster making last hitting less of a pain. |
|
|
S |
+5% DMG on targets <50% HP : More damage to those ballzy enough to stick around sub 50% hp. Very nice early game |
|
|
S |
+2 MR : Some extra magic resistance for those harassing spells. |
|
|
S |
+5 Armor : HP going down just a bit slower to make a difference when invading at level 1 and early lane sustain. |
|
|
S |
+6 HP per Level : Leveling up now gives you 6 more HP then normal. That is 108 extra HP by the time you reach level 18. |
|
|
S |
+30 HP : Instantly having 30 more HP at level 1 is significantly for those DMG trades. |
Runes
There are many runes out there. Some are good for tanks, others for junglers, some for late game and others early game.
Sivir is definitely a late game champion. Boosting up this late game will of course make her insanely strong.
BUT!
You have to make sure you farm and survive your early and mid game or there is nothing shiny about her extreme aligned late game runes! Therefore we pick the following runes to make
Sivir overall excellent!

A full use of her ultimate can take a turret down from full to none in early - mid game. In some late game situations even an entire base down to sunder within those precious 10 seconds. Using this to initiate with your minion wave just before getting in turret range will guarantee you to take it down and run off while still active for a few seconds. This makes you be safe before the ganking party arrives. Also to be used after a few seconds of an initiated team fight, since most fights starts by spamming abilities, |
Core build
What’s a core build?
A core build is a set of items you NEED to buy in order to fulfill your role as the chosen champion and play style. These items are the only items you will buy in a normal smooth game. Sometimes you won’t even be able to purchase them all, simply of the fact the enemies surrendered after 20 minutes.
Here I shall explain to you the core build of
Sivir as her main role to push towers. The faster you take them out the harder it will be for your enemies to grow stronger and the more dangerous it will for them to push back. This fact makes you have more control over the map, meaning a higher chance to achieve victory!

This is where things begin, determine your lane and with who you are laning. Either solo mid or side lane. Communication is key here! If someone wants mid, just let them take it. You are more safe with a teammate and can easy get a kill, if your lane mate got a stun. But if you truly want to dominate the game, mid is your place. An experienced Sivir should get mid over any other champion. This way you can get to level 18 while others just got level 13-14 (top/bot) or 16 (mid)

At this point you have your core items to put The following items are to be planned depending the enemy team setup / skills and tower awareness!!! Sometimes I fight good teams but they lack attending their tower defense. Perfect for In the next chapter you will have to pick what path you want to follow, based on the flow of the match. To summarize your role now is simple.
|
Path builds (choose one)
In my experience the game should be over by now. Either by a Victory or Defeat. But in some cases you will find yourself a game where both teams are determined to win and keep the odds equal. In this chapter I will explain what you should do with your last 2 item slots based on the flow of the match. Once you have possession of your core items and the game does not seem to be over, you want to know what to spend your gold on. Below here show you some of the possible item combinations you should pick.
When
Matches where nothing special happens and both teams are equally skilled, but just takes longer then the average game. Your way of obtaining objectives, team fights, lane control are going just fine, but it just ends up being a tie. Suit yourself up for a large variety of possible strategies, since there is still no way how to pin them down.
Why
Your core items will make you deal the essential dps to deal with their squishies, pushing lanes. But you can only do that once you broke through their defences. Tanks / Bruisers are the most common standing in your way. These will be packed with armor and hit points.
While
So matches aren't always the same, we know.
So matches doesn’t go as you like them to go, we know.
So some enemies aren’t your daily cup of tea.
Guess what?
We know!
Blindly following the "standard" items sometimes isn't enough and counter measures need to be made. Here I will describe some paths that you can choose from to ensure the odds to be on your side.
Boosting your longevity in fights and pushing towers while someone ganks without dying in a few seconds. Choose this path when you are on the losing edge and need to counter attack their strategy.
When
Pick one of these items (or both) if the enemy team has many AD aligned champs and have their eyes focussed on you.
Why
These items are cheap and can counter their offenses. A fully decked
When
Pick one or both of them when the enemy team has many AP aligned champions. Champions like
Why

When
Sometimes your team simply lacks the ability to pin them down. After every team fight they snipe one of your team members and run off. While
Why
There is nothing more annoying then a team that can't keep themselves alive due to the fact of lacking CC. Sivir doesn't come with any CC and relying on her ult alone isn't good enough. This way you can at least take an extra one or two down. Had plenty of matches with tons of damage in general, just no power to keep them in place.
You can't defend endlessly and in the late game everyone is decked out. So focus on how the game is won. Games are won by taking their Nexus, Nexus is taken down by destroying their towers.
When
Taking pure AD items is only ideal when you are not bothered with enemy champions. Make sure you have enough time to drill through their base. Also have a team member place a ward next to their base. Sometimes when you have a teleporting teammate, ask them to join your strike. This build should be made if your team can handle a push and defend as good as possible. Keep in mind that the enemy will respond to this and is calling back in no time. So have the remaining of your team ready to interrupt any recalls!
Why
These items will deal pure damage to structure. Crits and other effect won't work on them. AD in combination with Sivir's ult will deal insane dps. One well places teleport makes you drill towers so fast that you can finish it all by yourself. Just hit a few enemy minions to lifesteal hp back and keep on going! Taking down towers in matter of 5 seconds and inhibitors along with it as bonus, plus gets you out of the danger zone as the cherry on top.

A few notes of advice
League of Legends has a dynamic game play. Adjust accordingly to what happens. No game is the same. Enemies aren't bots, they are unpredictable. The best way is to have experience which will grow over time. Don't expect to win just because you picked the items accordingly. It's a game of action and reaction. A combo of chance and skill. If they see you building offenses, expect to be shut down. It's like one big game of rock, paper and scissors. One strategy counters the other.
Expect the unexpected and always be one step ahead. One simple missclick or minor decision can make the difference between winning or losing.
Choose wisely summoner and grow stronger every game. Learn as much you can even if you face a rough start, harsh progression or even an enevitable defeat.
Primary role (GO or not?)
Every champion has its own unique role. Either being the tank / initiator, ganker, jungler, map awareness, pusher, carry, you name it.
Sivir's role is PUSH and take down turrets. Sounds like child's play, but executing it correctly require some experience and skill. The timing on when you should GO or NOT is the question. Here I lay down some examples on when to GO and NOT.
GO
Teleport up?
Always notify your team on your
Teleport timer. It makes them organize a "fake" push to draw enemy champions to their location at the time your
Teleport is ready to be used. A good team will bait, lure, provoke or threatening them to take down a turret.
This also works if they pushing you. Let your team defend (not initiate a team fight) poke them with range attacks to drop down their HP a little.- Where are my enemies?
You have either visual confirmation of all enemy champions or they are dead with quite enough deathtime left for you to take the tower. - Minions nearby?
Do you have a lane where your minions are about to reach their turret? If not they will be notified of your attempt long before you can commence the takedown. To increase your chances you should always keep your lanes pushed as far as safety allows you. - Is my ultimate up?
Without it makes it a lot harder to take down turrets as well getting your squishy *** back to safety.
When meeting all the requirement, you can initiate operation takedown.
- Step outside visual range so enemies do not see you using your
Teleport.
Teleport to a lane where minions are nearing their turret.- Use
Ricochet on the 1st minion in the upcoming waves if you still need a little way to go before reaching their turret. And use
Boomerang Blade to clear out the entire wave without standing still. - Final check on enemies to determine your safety timer (time you have left before they can gank you)
- When still acceptable time is left, activate
On The Hunt just before the minion wave enters the tower's range. - When you sense an enemy is missing from the field and might be coming for you. Either take the turret down and suffer a death or run for it if you think you cannot take it down in time.
- Activate your
Spell Shield in case they start out with a stun (like
Ashe or
Evelynn e.g.) - Try to position yourself away from the jungle so you have more reaction time for when they popping out of the jungle.
- When the turret is down, RUN! If they ganked you and you cannot survive a run, FIGHT! Take down as much HP as possible. You might even take them out as well.
(Recorded game with such moment --> Loss game, took a turret down while being ganked by Ashe and Akali, took them both down along with me.) - Run to a brush, call home and go shop. And simply kill time before
Teleport is back up.
NOT
- When no enemies are visible
- When your lanes nearing your own turret. Pushing will take too long to stay unnoticed
- Low on HP unless you have good life steal
- Enemies have their
Teleport spell or ability ready to use. - Your team simply cannot handle a team fight (even plain defending and let you push)
If you still go... prepare to be flamed, cussed at, learn all form of noobism and get killed without a chance of not even reaching the turret or barely damage it.
Spell Shield Block List
Some changes have been made in this chapter.
- A new color has been introduced to indicate another form of priority. Mainly the Green and Yellow are spread among blue / green / yellow. Blue as being a truely free mana on choice e.g. Caitlyn's traps.
- Large pieces of text have been removed due to a high variety of gameplay, so its back to essential basics. Missing text underneath the spell will fill out overtime.
This is a rather LONG chapter, due to the immense amount of champions RIOT made for us.
Ever had those RPG games where you had those quick chart for bosses HP/Exp/Gold drop etc?
A Long list of weapons and their stats?
Well now you can rejoice that memory with a quick chart for Sivir's Spell Shield Block List.
- BLUE : Free mana spells by walking into the spell when you choose to.
- GREEN : Almost free mana spells, these are baitable, skills shots so you can also simply avoid it by walking another direction.
- YELLOW : These are locked on, easy/decent reactable spells but only deal damage.
- ORANGE : Hard to block spell since it near to insta-hit, can be used to fake an attack so Sivir will use her SS for nothing. Require skilled timing/anticipation to block it.
- RED : Should be BLOCKED at all times. Either due sick damage or a start of a deadly combo (e.g. stun or taunt)
- WHITE : UNBLOCKABLE, just try to avoid it or Tank & Spank.

Conclusion
To close this guide, I'd like to thank all of you for your attention and patience reading this extensive guide. I hope it brought Sivir back to light and that more of you consider her a viable pick and not pre-emptively call it a loss game just because someone choose Sivir. (Right Dr. Mundo? We won eventually.
This guide will be updated whenever the game changes for her or when new found strategy is more viable

- Spell Shield Quickchart added for you to download to bring back the memories of all the RPG games with a quickchart of all the bosses and weapons one can look at it for hours :)
- Few new screenshots added from players
