The carries are pretty much universally bot laners, although GP can comfortably top and Twitch and Ashe can mid if need be without any changes to their builds.
The tank builds are designed for laning and/or jungling, as detailed below.
Rammus (Lane)I roll my
Rammus in jungle, and I build him for ganking, choosing Frozen Mallet instead of Warmog's Armor unless I really need the HP. Amumu (Jungle/Lane)For jungle build, take
Despair at level 1 instead of Bandage Toss and swap Ghost for Smite. Like my Voli guide above, for your last item choose Thorn Mail or Force of Nature depending on enemy team composition. Galio (Lane)This build and champ works great in any lane. Good top when you don't need any more AD on the team.
Maokai (Jungle/Lane)Works well in ganks with
Twisted Advance, for jungle build swap out Teleport for Smite. Shen (Jungle/Lane)For lane build, simply swap
Smite for Teleport and remove Wriggle's Lantern from build.
