Hi,

In the Detailed Matchups Cection under VXYZ, I have both a Yasuo and Zed counter matchup. If you have any more questions that those didn't cover, feel free to ask! Hope this helped and let me know if you need any more help :)

Hey,

Thank you! She definitely can, you just need to focus on what you need to do. The biggest thing about Lux is that if you can't get the pressure mid lane because it's a hard counter (fizz post 6, lb, etc), your main objective should be farming. If you go 0-0-0 in lane or even 0-1-0 in lane but you have a CS advantage, you will still average out and have the gold in order to build items to do damage. With that being said, definitely don't greed for farm. If you're missing a minion or two because they're pressuring you, just give it up because that ~36 gold is NOT worth giving the mid laner a kill and a chance to snowball. Just focus on what you need to do and remember that Lux is a good teamfight champion. She is able to do a possible LOT of AOE burst if you get a good E/R on a lot of them, or she is able to blow someone up with her combo, and she also has a utility shield/CC that really helps, even if she's a little behind. The biggest thing is to make sure you get that gold generation going through farming and possible kills/assists (it's pretty easy to get assists on Lux since you can R from far away to help out a fight or shield your allies for that juicy assist), and always do your best to kill or at least blow up/knock out a carry or two out of teamfights so you win teamfights and gain even more objectives and objectives.
In hard lanes, depending on who I'm against, I like to just farm up and try to put pressure on the map elsewhere if possible, like getting my ADC ahead bot lane or even scoring kills of my own bot or top in order to be more of a threat for the enemies. Just remember not to leave a lane to possibly help your teammates and lose 2+ waves, it's not worth it in the end.

Hope this all made sense and let me know if you have any more questions or need any further explanation on what I said :)

Hey, really enjoyed the guide. Is Lux support not too hurt by her mana issues? Her E is really the kind of spell you want to spam to proc Frostfang but the mana cost is comparable to a Xerath Q and Lux doen't have Xerath's passive, so her poke can be heavily limited by mana problems. Is Frostfang still worth it, or is Ancient Coin maybe a good alternative since you're sure to get the full value from the gold generation?

Hey,

I think the general rule for both of these items are the matchups. Frostfang is always 100% better when you have someone like Caitlyn and you can try to poke and knock the enemies out of lane because you will be procing frost fang a lot, aka more gold (it's even better if they have a melee support because you and a caitlyn can abuse your range and you can just auto the melee support to death and get gold without using your mana!). However, there could be some lanes where you may not land very many spells or will have a weak ADC and won't be able to get the gold generation you want from frostfang (ex: if you have a twitch and they have a sivir who is just going to push you guys to tower all game and can spellshield your E aka no goldand not much poking potential) because coin does have the capability of getting a lot more gold generation if you can't proc frostfang a lot.

As far as mana goes, you should be ok on mana in most cases as any other champ with either support item. With frostfang, you want to make sure you're not just spamming your spells in order to get the gold generation or else you will run out of mana really fast. You want to be able to Q>auto>E>auto (or Q>E>auto>pop E>auto) in lane pre-6 in order to get a ton of damage off and get all your procs. If you throw an E out every time it's up and miss half of them, you're wasting your mana and spells, and that tends to also really mess up the wave as well.
I do take frostfang in most cases though, just because Lux can pressure a lane pretty well, despite her squishiness, because she has range and decent damage, but if you're more comfortable with coin or maybe you are new to Lux/are learning her and don't know when to auto and proc the gold generation item, coin is a good alternative.

Hope this helps and let me know if I need to clarify anything further or if you need help with anything else :)

Just started playing a month ago, and I've been learning/using this build the whole time. Possibly the most informative and helpful tutorial out there, thank you so much!

Super informative guide, thx <3 What do you think about lich bane on lux? Shouldn't it in theory be good with her passive? Maybe after ludens echo?

Hey thank you, glad it helped :)
I personally don't buy Lich Bane on Lux because of a couple reasons:

A. It does seem to work well with her passive (like Zoe's does), but Lux is very squishy and immobile, so her walking up to auto attack a champion can be dangerous! In fights, getting your passive auto procs off can be important, but you have to decide if that small amount of damage is really worth that bruiser or tank being able jump on you and CC you since you got in range. Lux is one of those lucky mages that can stay far back and still do loads of damage!

B. You need to see where it will fit in your build. Ludens is a must, Boots are a must, Rabadons is Lux's bread and butter item, and Void Staff should be built when the team starts to get a lot of MR. This leads us to two items left. I always get Morellos because it not only gives damage (especially since magic penetration is SO important), but it also helps any type of healing (any bruiser or tank that can heal, a support that can heal, an ADC that either has the summoner spell heal or has lifesteal, maybe even the mid laner has Ravenous Hunter or something to help them heal up). The second item is normally a defensive item since Lux does need it in a lot of her games. Zhonyas is the better choice in a lot of games (so the camille doesnt jump on you, ult you, and one shot you, or if you need it to statis some type of ultimate, plus the armor helps a lot) or banshees can be decent if they have a full AP team.
TDLR, there really isn't space for Lich Bane in Lux's build anyways unless you want to miss out on better magic pen/damage/stop healing or you want to not have a defensive item (which sometimes I do but it can be very dangerous depending on the team comp and if you're going to get in auto range to use your lich bane AND not have any defensive stats or items, you might be in trouble).

C. A lux player should always be looking for loopholes and being sneaky about her comboing. For example, warding a bush and then being able to throw her spells when she sees them so they aren't able to flash her Q and don't have much time to react before getting blown up. Or, Lux hiding in a bush or near a terrain herself unseen, so she can unload her combo before the team has any time to react. These things mean Lux will be throwing her spells from a distance, so she won't be in range to auto attack anyways.

Sorry this is long but I hope I explained everything :)

Holy. Thank you for this guide. I literally never thought of taking Precision as a secondary tree. (I guess I'm dumb idk) I would always take Domination/ Sorcery first tree and Domination/ Sorcery(the one I didn't take first obv)/ Inspiration second, but your build works way better for me, as I do have the problems with being ✦squishy✦ and not being able to deal with tanks as effectively. (I play mostly tank/tank-hybrid champions, so I'm not used to not being able to be the front line) Your guide helped me a lot. Thank you !!

Glad to hear it helped!! Yeah, lux is definitely a VERY different playstyle since Lux can get blown up so easily and tanks can take a lot of damage. Unfortunately, Lux also doesn't deal with tanks well as well, but she does do very well vs squishys and has the range others don't! Just keep practicing on adapting to how she works when you play her and you'll have no problem at all! Glad I could help!!

Hey,

That build is still an option, it's just not nearly as strong as it used to be, aka why I did take it out of my guide. Due to the changes in both the runes and the game, Lux has grown to be a stronger artillery/burst champion.

However, if you want to keep doing it, go for it! I don't see anything wrong with it. I wouldn't recommend it in ranked but it's so fun to do in norms! I would recommend if you're taking precision second, to take Legend: Alacrity because the attack speed will help Lux tons with that build (plus, taking precision gives you that attack speed as well, which is really helpful)! Let me know if you have any questions about it and I'll do my best to help.

Thank you for the very in depth guide! I know many people dont always read the whole thing, but I have many times to take as much information in from it as I can. I was placed Bronze 4 (yuck i know) But in the recent month or two of myself reading this guide and picking up lux, I have gotten almost 200K mastery points on her and climbed to s3 where I am now hardstuck haha. All in all my friend, thank you for the guide, it has helped me escape some wood level elo, and start to finally find my playstyle!. Much love, good day!
