Introduction
Welcome to my guide, I'm PykEugeo, I am going to show all my experience with Pyke in this guide both to those who have mastered it well enough, and to those who would like to learn it.

After a long time playing the other champions, one day I realized that Pyke had the kit and the style of play that I prefer.
Of course it's not always plain sailing to play with him ( hard skilling ), but I'll show you the reasons to pick Pyke and why it's good to play with.

Below I show you my mastery points and my rank, I finished season 12 with the rank of silver 4, but I wasn't stuck at that rank, I just preferred to play more draft with friends often than ranked. In the draft I often encountered tremendous botlanes against samira and nautilus gold 2, winning above all so I guess my rank last season was between gold 1 and platinum 4, but for this season I will try to get platinum 4. I will update you on my rank over the months.

Your Phantom Undertow is a good utility for your adc and to get a kill early game.

If you want to play cunning and aggressive, Pyke is the champion for you, in fact thanks to his kit you will not only be able to get the better of certain champions, but you will be able to surprise even the enemies left by solo late game thanks to its powerful roaming sometimes serving as a second jungler. Not only is Pyke's roaming extremely effective, but also the gold he is able to multiply every time he kills or gets an assist from his ultimate, in this way, you will be able to build your adc much faster than that enemy and have a huge advantage.
CONS
Pyke is squishy cause his passive Gift of the Drowned Ones
So much Tanks, and/or sustain and/or high dps enemies in botlane is worst matchup for Pyke
A bad roaming stop your snowballing
Vulnerable to the poke enemy
Without your R, Pyke is useless in late game
No snowballing or No Team, u cant do anything

Like any champion, Pyke also has some weaknesses, the first of which is not only being an assassin and therefore one shot by mages and other assassins, but due to his passive, any item you would build but that gives hp, he won't give them to you because it will convert them to attack damage. Having a team that knows how to keep up with Pyke is important because if you don't snowball enough and if this happens due to large enemy sustain or too much dps, it will make your game a hell that you will want to get out of immediately by giving up. Unfortunately the hard cc is also a problem for pyke as for any other champs.
Abilities
PASSIVE ABILITY
Gift of the Drowned Ones
Pyke's maximum health cannot increase except through growth (per level), instead he gains 1 bonus attack damage per 14 bonus health.

Pyke gains 1 bonus movement speed while in the river.

Pyke stores 9% (+ 0.2% per 1 Lethality) of the post-mitigation damage he takes from enemy champions as grey health on his health bar, increased to 40% (+ 0.4% per 1 Lethality) while there are two or more visible enemy champions nearby. He can store up to 80 (+ 800% bonus AD) grey health, with an upper cap of 55% of his maximum health.

When Pyke is not visible to enemies, he rapidly consumes his grey health to power heal for the same amount.

Cost: 74 / 78 / 82 / 86 / 90 Mana
Cooldown: 10 / 9.5 / 9 / 8.5 / 8 sec.
Physical Damage: 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 (+ 60% bonus AD)

ACTIVE: Pyke charges while being slowed by 20% for up to 3 seconds to increase Bone Skewer's range over the first second of the channel. Bone Skewer can be recast at any time within the duration.

RECAST: Pyke hurls his harpoon in the target direction that deals physical damage to the first enemy hit, (knock up) pulling them towards his direction, during which they are also revealed, and slowing them by 90% for 1 second.

Releasing the ability within 0.4 seconds causes Pyke to instead thrust his blade in the target direction, dealing the same damage to the closest enemy champion, or closest enemy otherwise.

If the charge is silenced, interrupted or completes without reactivation, Bone Skewer is cancelled and the ability is put on cooldown full cooldown but refunds 75% of the mana cost. Bone Skewer's mana cost is refunded if it hits an enemy champion.

Cost: 50 Mana
Cooldown: 12 / 11.5 / 11 / 10.5 / 10 sec.
Detection radius: 600

ACTIVE: Pyke submerges into water, entering camouflage for 5 seconds and gaining 40% (+ 1.5% per 1 Lethality) bonus movement speed that decays over the duration. Enemy champions within 1500 units of Pyke are alerted of his presence and whether he can execute them with Death from Below.

Attacking or casting abilities ends Ghostwater Dive immediately.
E
Phantom Undertow

Target range: 550
Effect radius: 110
Width: 110
Speed: 3000
Cost: 40 Mana
Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 sec.
Physical Damage: 105 / 145 / 185 / 225 / 265 (+ 100% bonus AD)

ACTIVE: Pyke dashes a fixed distance in the target direction, leaving behind a Phantom.
After a 1-second delay, the Phantom homes back to Pyke to stun enemies around it and those it passes through along the way for 1.25 (+ 0.1 per 10 Lethality) seconds. Enemy champions hit also take physical damage.
R
Death from Below

Target range: 750
Effect radius: 125 / 282.5 × 100
Cast time: 0.5 sec.
Cost: 100 Mana
Cooldown: 100 / 85 / 70 sec.

ACTIVE: Pyke marks the target location with an X before striking it, executing enemy champions within the area that are below 250 − 550 (based on level) (+ 80% bonus AD) (+ 1.5 per 1 Lethality) health. Other enemies hit and enemy champions above the threshold are instead dealt ( 50% of the amount as physical damage ).
If Death from Below hits an enemy champion or at least one is killed inside the X by an ally, Pyke will blink to the center of the X. For the latter case Pyke also gains the ability to recast within
20 seconds at no cost.
Each successful execution grants one to the last assisting ally, instead of its natural assist gold. In addition, each enemy champion killed inside the X by an ally during Death from Below's cast time grants Pyke one .
Skill Curiosity
PASSIVE ABILITY
Gift of the Drowned Ones
Game elements that increase health based on the champion's health (e.g Overgrowth) will increase the health before getting converted by Gift of the Drowned Ones, thus granting increased bonus AD.

Spirit Visage and Grievous Wounds, a debuff that reduces all of a unit's healing and health regeneration received by 40%, take effect after Gift of the Drowned Ones's healing cap.

Pyke's grey health does not have a time limit, and will stay on his health bar until Pyke leaves enemy vision or dies.

Since Pyke's maximum health cannot be increased, Gift of the Drowned Ones reaches the upper cap of 60% of maximum health at 40.25 − 172.85 (based on level) bonus attack damage.

Untargetable champions count towards Pyke's modified grey health storing.

The maximum amount of additional grey health storing gained possible from all lethality sources is 51.2% at 128 lethality. This is reduced to 25.6% while there are fewer than two enemy champions nearby.

Gift of the Drowned Ones is 93.75% gold efficient.

1 HP = 2.66 gold. (calculated with Ruby Crystal. 400g / 150 hp = 2.66)

1 AD = 35 gold. (calculate with Long Sword. 350 g / 10 ad = 35 g)

AD/HP (35 / 2.66) = 13.125 (this is to find where AD=HP, meaning 13.125 HP is equal to 1 AD. The equation would be 13.75 [HP] = [AD])

Pyke's passive converts every 14 bonus hp into 1 ad. so if you divide 13.125 by 14, you get 0.9375, meaning each bonus HP you buy is only 93.75% the gold value you get for each AD.

100% efficiency would be 8 AD for every 105 HP.

Q
Bone Skewer

Only the charged version of Bone Skewer will be intercepted.

This ability will cast from wherever the caster is at the end of the cast time.

Pyke can still use summoner spells besides Flash, Teleport, Hextech Flashtraption, and Mark/Dash while hurling the harpoon but he cannot perform any other action.

Ghostwater Dive

When an enemy is alerted, sharks will circle underneath their feet while a sound will be played to them that changes based on health threshold.

The maximum amount of bonus movement speed gained possible from all lethality sources is 192% at 128 lethality.

Phantom Undertow

The dash distance can be extended to up to 900 units (estimated) when targeting across terrain.

Like most projectiles, the flying Phantom cannot hit targets whose center is behind the position it originates at or beyond the position it catches up to Pyke at, but the spell can hit targets behind its origin as long as their hitbox radius overlaps with the original unit Phantom's 110-radius check at the end of its lifespan.

The maximum increase in stun duration possible from all lethality sources is 1.28 seconds at 128 lethality, with the base duration included for a total of 2.53 seconds.

Death from Below

Applies raw damage to executed targets and area damage to targets above the threshold.

Raw damage is a type of damage that ignores all resistances and shields active on target. Invulnerability, (e.g. Divine Judgment) is only way to reduce raw damage, but Spell Shield will also negate its application where applicable. All current champion-sources of raw damage deal in excess of 100% of the target's current health, and so this damage type is often referred to as execution damage.
By default, raw damage will also ignore minimum health threshold and resurrection effects. However, all current interactions between champion-sourced raw damage have been handled to not-kill protected champions. It is worth noting that for Undying Rage and Lamb's Respite, the special-cased behavior to prevent affected champions from being executed will leave them on 1 health rather than the amounts specified by the ability.

Death from Below cannot execute clones. They are always dealt 50% physical damage.

If the target is in a zombie state or does not enter the death state, Death from Below does not grant Your Cut nor the recast.

The following effects trigger a champion to enter a Zombie State:

If an enemy champion dies inside the X during Death from Below's cast time, Pyke will be shown as having received an assist in the kill feed, but this will not trigger takedown effects.

Death from Below cannot be interrupted; Pyke will always appear at the target location if enemy champions are caught inside the X even if he is moved (e.g. by being displaced) during the cast time.

The only exception is if he is being suppressed (e.g. by Nether Grasp, in which case he will not blink.

Tips on skin of Pyke's X

Playing League of legends, I realized the difference in pixels between one Death from Below and another in terms of skin. In fact, each skin should be used based on both who you are playing against and who you are playing with: In fact it will be easier to get a pentakill using a certain X, since based on the skin the X changes, or kill more people in the same X, thanks to the synergies with certain champions, such as Yone, Yasuo, Diana, Orianna and so on, see the synergies section for more information.
From this fact the desire to write this section was born, in order to help you choose the best skin for Pyke in the right games.

This is Pyke's Death from Below without skin. This X is poor both from the point of view of wanting to get a pentakill, and to want to kill as many people as possible in the same X. Tips
I advise you to use this skin in ranked e or in a game in which you want to try hard, because thanks to this skin not only your grabs will be more effective since the tip of the blade is absurdly well done, but your R is perfect for killing. at maximum range an enemy and at times, to be able to kill him under the tower and then escape. So use it if in your team there is no Diana, Yasuo, Yone etc but even if there were it does not matter, because it has so much potential.

Before moving on to the gameplay, being Pyke an assassin support, we need to understand and know certain fundamental concepts for the role of an assassin, lethality and armor penetration. Lethality is a scale effect that depends on the player's level, and it is a stat that serves to produce more damage, where few would be produced due to the fault of those who build armor or are tanks.

The formula for calculating the amount of armor you will ignore is: flat armor penetration = lethality × (0.6 + 0.4 × level ÷ 18). As a result, at level one you will always have at least 60 percent of the fixed armor penetration the item gives you. As you level up, you will receive a portion of the second equation of 0.4 multiplied by your level and divided by 18. This stat accumulates additively and cannot reduce a target's armor below zero.

Lethality is the sister stat of bonus armor penetration and is applied to the target after clearing bonus armor penetration.
In a scenario where you would have 20 flat armor penetration from lethality and 30 bonus armor penetration, the target would lose 30 of their armor, before losing the fixed amount of 20. At 200 armor, for example, the target would be reduced to 140 from bonus armor penetration and then to 120 from flat armor penetration.
(200 - 30% bonus armor pen) - 20 flat armor pen = (200-60)-20 = 140-20 = 120

Last considerations
Tips
The stat is useful for assassin champions who want to snowball, as it will increase their damage at the beginning by a good margin, even climbing more levels you earn during the game. Some AD champions like Senna, Draven, Jhin, and Varus can benefit a lot from this stat if they make it through the lane. Since most bottom lane champions have a small amount of basic armor, you can punish them pretty hard and make sure you get a good mid-game transition. While lethality is a great stat and can help you play snowballs, it's not that efficient against champions who build a lot of armor. In such scenarios, choosing lethal items may not be the best choice. Aiming for bonus armor penetration will be much more efficient as you will ignore more armor than lethality.

It is a useful item for pyke but after its ?" nerf "? it must be tested with many games to understand if it is more effective than Youmuu's Ghostblade.

The youmuu represents the best damage contribution with the
Death from Below ever since the lowest levels, and scaling with the levels allows greater ease of execution, also given by the movement speed of the active. You are very vulnerable after performing a Death from Below and I think it is a good item for 2v1 fights.

This mythic item is not suitable for Pyke, unless playing against 4-5 tanks (remember the lesson we did in the previous chapter on pen armor) in fact the Duskblade of Draktharr is simply more effective than this object, since after an Death from Below, if you are not untargettable, you are badly one shotted by 4 enemies.

Mobility boots > Movement speed
They are boots that you will build often because not only do they help you roam, but their passive is very strong against those who do not get you burn damage, such as Brand,
Morgana, Annie, Malzahar, and will help you chase prey that will soon be excellent kills.

Mercury's Treads > TENACITY
In matches where there are either too many wizards, 2-3+ or where there are heavy cc's, these boots are for you and are a must. If in botlane you are against a Lux, and she should catch you with his Light Binding and then press Final Spark, you with these boots will never die for her Final Spark because you will always be able to press Phantom Undertow in time to escape, and therefore from the Lux's Final Spark you will not be never hit.

If you are building a mythic item other than the draktar, I recommend that you buy these boots unless the team has heavy cc, remember that the heavy cc takes precedence over everything, as they will give you less cd in your abilities and will partially fill the empty of the
Duskblade of Draktharr.

Death's Dance has been nerfed a lot. The item itself is never a bad idea for a pyke, because it gives him a higher survivability than other items.

I don't build this item often, since in order to do it, you must not only have snowballed a lot, but be sure that the next kills you do will be yours, since every time that happens, the cd of your supreme will be reduced. I generally prioritize other items, but if you want to build it every now and then when u arent trying hard then that's ok.

It is an item that I don't build often, but it should be built for all those games where you have against teams that have a large amount of shield generating, such as Lulu, Sett, Rakan, Seraphine and so on. You might think about building it as the last item if the game lasts more than 40-45 minutes, selling your support item (this should never be done) but if you need, just do it.

This is an item to build as a last item as due to its passive that scales with levels, it will get more one hit damage, but not only the attack speed is very friendly to Pyke, and you will be able to kill enemies very well squishy. You should build this item when there are 3-4 hard AP on the enemy team.

Dead Man's Plate

This item must be built against a team with hard AD, especially if there is Talon, and bruisers who build assassin, having a lot of armor will help you and thanks to his passive, the attacks he makes are more powerful as well as giving speed of movement.

Spear of Shojin = 65 AD + 300 HP = 86,43 AD ( for Gift of the Drowned Ones ).
We know that only 80% of the AD scales within Death from Below, this means
80% of 86.43 AD = 69.144 scaling

Now suppose we take a very important lethality item for Pyke
that everyone has built, Youmuu's Ghostblade.
Youmuu's Ghostblade = 55 AD + 18 Lethality.
80% of AD scales in X, and 150% with lethality, then:
80% of 55 AD + 150% of 18 lethality = 44 + 27 = 71 scaling

The Collector

Pyke's ultimate would need to not execute for it to have synergy with The Collector, meaning it would have to deal damage reducing the enemy below 5% maximum health but that is not practical since his ultimate's execution threshold is so low and the damage is reduced by 50% if the target is above threshold. The only benefit you're getting is the 25 gold and even then his ultimate will be giving much more anyway so 25 is a negligible amount. In my opinion, The Collector is a very bad item for Pyke and you'd much rather prefer other Lethality items. It doesn't make sense to have two executes.

First Combo ( Q + E + basic x 3 + ? R ? )

Now that you know the items, the champion, the mechanics, we just have to talk about all the tips I offer you to follow to make your gameplay as close as possible to that of a high-elo Pyke.

We talked in the champion session, that there are several champions that use skill effects that cause them to go into invulnerability, untargetable, unstoppable, suppression, spell shield.

But we have never asked ourselves the question of how to deal with them. As you could see from those lists, many effects counter Pyke's abilities, roughly 1 in 4 champions in league of legends to date counter it, but then what should we do? The solution is to learn to adapt to being countered while having Pyke and to learn how to deal with certain spells.

I would say first of all to start with all those effects that I listed earlier: Well, just wait. This is because every effect does not last forever, whether it is non-targetable or invulnerable, so I prefer to use a way of playing Pyke much more focused on survival than on lethality, because if you survive (and you have to survive because your R is fundamental for others) you will be able to finish or kill after those effects all the champ that counter you, simply waiting for the right moment and learning the timing and sounds of each effect, for example the stasis of the Zhonya's Hourglass, that is already a first approach to learn that is. In fact, if you train to use supreme just 0.01 seconds after stasis, you will certainly kill the enemy.

The most serious counters in fact for Pyke (without contradicting myself with those lists that I have listed in the samples section) are the dashes and sustains (not shield-type, only the cures, since the R passes through any shield (except Sivir etc.)).

The team with Pyke very often can invade the jungle well, in fact you can get several kills thanks to Bone Skewer, in the map they are indicated with a circle and the arrow, the points where you have to stay still with the q ready to use it, and the routes according to the blue or red zone to follow in order to make a good invade.

If, on the other hand, you do not decide to invade, then you position yourself in the points with the circles and the arrow to wait for someone, if no one arrives, help your jungler with the red buff.

In Lane (liv 1-2...-5)

As soon as you arrive in your lane, don't kill any minions with the passive Steel Shoulderguards, because as soon as the second wave arrives, you will always have 2 stacks that you will need to give you a time advantage for the second level.

At that point you will unlock the E ( Phantom Undertow), having unlocked the q first ( Bone Skewer), and you can start hiring, or you have to, because if they are still at level 1, this will give you a huge advantage even without getting a kill but only taking away half life (a both hopefully as well). Prioritize the adc when engaging, unless you are up against a Soraka or some support that is misplacing.
Continue with your poke until you get a kill if you succeed before 6, otherwise wait until you have the R ( Death from Below) for more impact.
Do not forget to place the vision in the river and in the places that I will later show you in the guide (scroll down).

As soon as your support item transforms ( Pauldrons of Whiterock because you have finished the 500g mission, buy the red trinket ( Oracle Lens) and some Control Ward.

Roamming (liv 6-9) (if possible)

At about 9-10 minutes you will unlock the boots and about 15 minutes you should be able to buy them: if they are Mobility Boots, they will help you roam in the other lanes, especially the jungle to help your jungler in danger or in the midlane.

If instead you unlock those of Mercury's Treads or another type, concentrate in your lane if you can kill easily, otherwise if you notice that there is too much passivity in your lane, I advise you to abandon your adc and make it play safe, and to roam in other wools. This unfortunately will make you lose experience unless you do it at the right times, but everything has a price, try to find a balance.
